    Good day, all.

I'm trying to remove Norton Anti-Virus from my PC, but I can't seem to do it.

Running Windows 2000, tried the My Computer>Add/Remove Programs, click on Norton and.......nothing.

Is there some secret chant I need to intone while doing this?

    Thanks!

    Neil

I did this once under the uninstall directions under the Symantec website. Sort of in-depth. You really need to have everything else (programs, screen saver, etc) turned off. After you have done that, search your hard drive for remaining folders from NAV. I found two, since the uninstall does not get everything. One contained the subscription info. Funny, when I re-installed it, the subscription was reset to another year.

A Google search will find a lot of discussion boards on how to do it, but stick with the official version.

Thank you both. I had tried the symantec website, but it didn't like me very much since I'm a dedicated Mozilla user.

Once I used IE, got on to the proper area no problem. The download fix did not take, so ended up livechatting with a helpful gentleman in India who uninstalled it from there for me. Problem solved.

    Thanks again,

    Neil

Get familiar with the Windows Registry, then go looking for it.

Try rebooting into Safe Mode and do the uninstall through "Add/Remove Programs". In normal mode one or two (or more) of Norton's services are still running which prevents removing the program. After that do like Whisky said by deleting the registry entries associated with Norton AV (Warning about the registry; it's not for the inexperienced or uninformed).

Isn't there a removal tool? I used that once and it worked great.
