I just got my 30K service completed. Today, I drove my car for about an hour. I stopped to get a cup of coffee, and when I tried to start it again, it took about 2-3 tries before it finally kicked over. Anybody know what the problem is?? Bad gas? A tempermental Italian car?? Thanks for the help

Any type of rattle when you shut the car off ? Once it coooled, it started right up, correct?

I have my theory, but everyone else thinks I'm full of crap.

hint: did you replace the clutch or mess with the pumpkin during your 30K?

    Daniel,

The technical looked at the clutch and said it was ok. No rattles when I shut it off. Once cool, it starts right up. What is a pumpkin?? What is your diagnostics??

Hey guys, it seems like I am not the only one who has had this problem with their 348. I searched the archives and found a number of threads on this topic. Thanks. But Daniel, what is a pumpkin??

This is the pumpkin. Has the flywheel, clutch disc/s,pressure plate in it. :)
Im assuming what Daniel is getting at, is did they pull apart the flywheel and re-pack it with grease when they did the 30K service? Thats what I think he is enquiring about. :)

Daniel, The technician did adjust the clutch, but did not repack/ grease the flywheel. Should this be done during a 30K service?

    No.

The 30k service and clutch service are two separate things. When he was changing the clutch, he should have inspected the condition of the seal on the flywheel.

I did what everyone told me to do. So it sounds like it is the fuel pressure or possibly a bad cell in my battery. I will change the battery and see what heppens. I do feel relieved that it asn't the clutch, since I don't have any rattles when I shut it off and after being warmed up, the car starts right up. Thanks to everyone for the help.

Lenny, just to clarify - are you saying that the engine DID crank over but would not start, or are you saying that the engine would NOT crank over on the key?

Jeff, The car did restart when I turned it off and quickly turned the key to the on position. I also did not have the clutch pedal puched down when I started it this time. This is the first time this has happened. Also, this is the first time I had a problem starting the car when it was cold. That is why it makes me believe that it could be the battery or fuel pressure.

Lenny, if you do need to replace your two fuel pressure regulators, they are Ferrari part number 147281, about $440 each at Ricambi or an outrageous $500+ at Ferrari dealerships.

But...I'm reasonably sure that they are just AC Delco FP regulators. The AC Delco part number is 217-2119 and the GM part number is 35476530. You can get them for $81 each here if you don't mind forgoing the pretty yellow Ferrari shipping box: http://www.autopartsgiant.com/CAT_FRAMEX.cfm .

The STANDARD MOTOR PRODUCTS FP Regulator # PR171 should work on our 348's, as well.

Allright, "MY" F355 makes a rattle when I shut it off. Though I do not have a start problem. I always thought it was the exhaust making the noise. I do not like it. If there is a way to fix it, I will be very grateful!!!

So Daniel, about this theory??? Hey, I too have my days when everyone else is temporarily afflicted with down syndrome. Can you shed some light on this "shut down rattle"??
