Was trying to unscrew the bolt on the v-band that connects the header to the cat and the bolt head sheared right off and the bolt is seized in the v-band.

I tried vice grips to just twist it out, but the v-band aluminum is so soft that it twists so easily. I sprayed the bolt with some penetrating oil but didn’t help at all.

    Any help is appreciated

Double nut it. That is, find two nuts which fit the thread pattern and screw them close to the collar, one at a time, till they are together. Then try unscrewing the one closest to the aluminum collar out. When it hits the outermost nut, the sheared bolt should back out.

That should work, but failing that, perhaps buy a new collar?

Many thanks guys. Ended up breaking the V band in the process, so need a new one.

    Anyone know the part number?

Or better yet, anyone know the specific size so maybe I can find one locally at an auto parts store instead of needing to buy one?

It is a 4 inch v-band clamp. Does anyone know what type of store would have this in stock in a town? Would like to buy tomorrow and. It delay my car being down for ordering it online and waiting.

Napa or an exhaust shop would be my first thought. You’ll have to make sure that the clamp fits the flanges correctly, and the bolt will probably be a T-bolt instead of the OEM style

Replace these clamps with lambo huracán’s, they are direct fitting and way much better, actually they have a spring to compensate over tighten when heated.

This is typical and why I hate exhaust work. Turbos must be horrendous.

You need to go to a diesel shop to find the correct VBAND if you want one locally. Bring it with you so they can match it up.

If you get the same again, best to drill it out, starting with say a 3 mm drill and keep going bigger,
