Rental companies and race tracks offering experience laps will probably own multiple examples of Ferraris, also reducing the number of private owners. Furthermore, many examples produced will be in dealer inventory, whether new yet to be sold or pre-owned in inventory.

    All the best,
    Andrew.

Aspirational and "information gathering" - I signed up and (mostly) lurked for about six months before whipping out the checkbook. :)

How long was it true that street cars got odd numbers only? Is that still true today?

I reckon more Americans own Ferraris than we all think.

There is a lot of money going around these days and Ferrari have made that many different models of Ferraris now, they cater to everyone's wants and needs lol.

We have a Ferrari register here in Australia for those that are in Ferrari Club Of Australia. I haven't counted, but you can count how many owners are in the Ferrari Club Of Australia and how many cars they own or used to own.

From what I have seen over the last few years, there is a lot more owners here now than ever before and I reckon America would be the same.

In 1979 or 1980 they went to full 17 number VINs. I don't know that the odd numbering continued.

Thanks. I guess I was confusing the VIN with the assembly number on my car. After I posted I checked my assembly number and it’s an even number anyway. VIN is a crazy mix of numbers and letters that I do know mean something to a VIN decoder.

Up until 79-80 they just had a 5 digit serial number. I think, but don't quote me on this, they kept the serial number as the last 5 dogits of the 17 digit VIN for a while.

Lot more info and knowledgeable folks in this thread..

    https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/how-to-read-ferrari-vin-vehicle-identification-number.318113/

Assembly numbers on the other hand were either by year or sub type of car, at least on the earlier cars. I don't remember what my old 308s assembly or sequence number was. It's probably on here somewhere though.

I’m in that club, never an owner, no current plans to buy one. Honestly, I am not a man of great means and I hate living above my means. So I have had just 3 chances at the brass ring since 2005. Each time, Ferrari was the car I was saving towards, but each time once I had the money and started driving cars, the Ferraris I could afford just were not the best cars for me.

I stay here because I have a history, I might get lucky if my relatives die off soon, I like the people (generally), and because the forum is active as quite frankly Ferrari sells a buttload of cars and the cars I chose are pretty rare in comparison.

I think it's great that owners and non-owners alike congregate here. All enthusiasts welcome and appreciated. You don't need to own a Ferrari to have something to add to the community.

This is regrettably again a POV that is a bad look for Ferrari owners. I sincerely hope you reconsider what you are communicating to the public at large. Many use these forums years in advance of a real purchase and I’m talking about Ferrari or Porsche or whatever brand. You can learn so much by asking and listening here and researching. In my case I researched Porsche, Lambo and Ferrari before buying one or more. Listening is just as valuable.

People looking to learn about what they may be getting into before buying, people that will never have the opportunity to own one but like looking at pictures and hearing about them, past owners like me and many, many others on here that still really like Ferraris etc, etc, etc…….

Sounds like an exercise in futility. ;) #of 360's they claimed they made 18000. Number they actually made: 19200. # of LaFerrari they claimed they made.. actually made... etc etc.

It's like the number you SAY you own to your wife. And then the number you ACTUALLY do stored in different garages in the countryside, etc. ;)

When I was in the midwest, they never looked at you in your sportscar.. but they all have a nice ride hidden in a barn or garage somewhere that they don't "boast about".
