500 miles a month for 10 years straight

    windshield was pricey at $6500
    headers were about $6,500 installed
    clutch was about $6,500
many rotors, many pads, lots of tires, lots of fluids, belts, alternator, AC compressor,
I added the spare tire kit with jack, tubi exhaust, a second set of rims just for fun, a bigger stereo with lots of amps, $5,500 (speakers die early from stock.) New top $6,500, plastic shield for windshield and bumpers was $3500

    has never run better

it all adds up to $1.75 a mile not including depreciation

Unless you are in your 20's and drive 10K miles each year, the motor will probably outlast you if given proper maintenance.
My first Ferrari was a 1975 GT4 with over 100K miles on it. Still ran great. Had a few oil leaks which were fixed.
Bought a 365 GTC/4 in 2002 with 60K miles on it. Engine had never been opened up.
My last 308QV (1984) had 65K miles on it and ran like new.
I know the newer stuff is higher compression & higher tech, however IMHO these motors are crafted to last and they do just that.

Not hardly... Porsche and an independent outfit, did a study, about 8% of total production had true failures. Early production cars are solid. Dual row bearings... almost zero concern. Yes a few later design single rows failed - 8%. It was a flaw associated with maintenance and drive habits. But, yes they have an issue that has been blown out of the water and made a lot of money for shops and IMS bearing companies. Kind of like majors on 355’s, all about the Benjamin’s and the internets.

Honestly, I use to call the TV the devil box and downfall of man. I was wrong, it is our damn smart phones and they are not making us smarter, just a$$holes on the webz. People are now terrible to deal with. Say terrible things and perpetuate terrible stories and lots of lies. I bet only 5% of owners participate and share on forums and sites and we equate that with 100% of the data on our cars. The math just does not work. We are becoming our own worst enemies. 355’s do not need engine out services every 3 years. The original manual never indicated it. Poor human workmanship caused almost all engine issues after service - on any make or model. That can probably be mathematically proven if we had a way to quantify it. Yes manufacturers have design flaws and issues, Like Benz timing chain issues, BMW timing chain guides, GM or Honda Timing chain issues. Yep Ferrari’s too, but I have been around 1 owner TR’s and 355’s with 30k miles and no belt services ever! Is that dicey, maybe... but they did all the schedule service except T-belts and no engine outs. How many of those guys are never on the Webz’s?

Hell even selling a car is impossible now. People hide behind the screen wall, ask a bunch of dumb questions, demands and crap they read but have no actual experience. AND then they want me to “give my best price” - F’you. My asking price is my best. Make me an offer. Get off your butt and come look at it like I did when I bought it. Don’t make me negotiate against myself. The PPI **** is for the birds too. No one PPi’s a Honda!?!? And Ferrari’s are supposed to be superior cars ?!? I have my asking price, my records, my history and my garage. Why am I taking my car to some guy you found on the web to tell me flaws it does not have. If you cannot show up, see a car, inspect it with your own eyes, see my house and other rides, then you should not be buying a car to begin with.

It is a weird turn in the car world. Hell, auctions are doing well and that is a terrible way to buy a car!!! Call an individual, go see it - flights are cheap and go out and make a grown up decision in person with dialogue. Why would you buy from a dealer flipping a car? Today, most neophytes want to buy from a dealer and the person to person sell is dying, I don’t get it ???

Engines are well engineered, more money than most any of us have, goes into creating the product for our consumption. The failure rate is not nearly what we think it is and most guys who spent $20, $30 or $40k into a Ferrari in repairs and failure, were taken to the cleaners.

Now, a Mclaren, Hell yeah they are junk and fail. Hoovie proved that Hahahahahah....

    Peace car brothers....

I totally agree with you. The same goes with buying a car from a private party. The seller has already been run ragged by "tourists" and when a real buyer comes along asking honest questions, they're already jaded and difficult to deal with. It's a human nature problem.

The answer is to use a go-between. A broker. It works with planes and it works with high end cars. A broker, for a set fee, will screen out the tourists and tire kickers and bring you only real buyers who honestly are looking for a car like yours.

I used Mike of Yellow Compass Group (FChat id Yellow Compass) to find me the car I wanted at a price I could live with. The seller is happy too, except for the stuff found in the PPI that he had to pay for of course. If you have a car to sell and don't want to deal with the general public, call Mike and see what he can do.

The exact answer, according to Alex on Jeopardy, is 567,232 miles and 43 feet.
    Enjoy!

The better exact Jeopardy answer is: “What is 567,232 miles and 43 feet?” :)
