I am guessing the narrower front track of the 348 over the 355 was down to slightly shorter front arms? so if I wanted to run wider wheels on a 355 then some of the increase in track could be compensated by using shorter 348 arms?

From memory, Ferrari widened the track of the 348 mid run, as they were deemed to jittery? did they then widen again for the 355, as they do not share part numbers for any of the arms, although they look the same without running a tape measure over them.

    1) look on ferrariparts.co.uk to compare part numbers s add us hence if there is a difference.

    2) it’s is no way as simple as shorter arms. Ferrari have spent millions designing the suspension on each car, by making such a change you will fundamentally change the geometry of the car and completely change its handling; and unless you’re last name is Newey, probably for the worst.

    3) why would you want wider tyres? Are you getting too much under steer? In which case I suggest you look at ride height, camber and toe, then the type of tyre your are running and then tire pressures.

As far as I know it was the offset difference of + 32mm vs 49mm on the 7.5" front rims. as I recall. The 355 tires were also taller so there that illusion as well.

Changing the suspension arms seems a strange way of tackling this problem????!!! Wont this affect the anti roll bar, steering rack and shock absorber placement too?? I run 355 wheels and standard size tyres plus a 15mm spacer on my 348 so you can at least add 15mm wider tyres no problem. I thought the usual solution to wanting to run much wider tyres was to add flares to the wings as in dino "chairs and flairs"

This may be of interest to you

It is a project track car that no longer resembles either a 355 or 348, we have 18" 9.5" BBS split rims for the car but they add width that we would rather reduce slightly, changing the front outer rim rings is not an option, so the thought was maybe if the 348 had narrower arms than the 355 then that would be an option to bring the track back nearer to stock 355 spec,

Visually the arms for the 348 and 355 look identical, but they carry different part numbers, that may simply be down to different composition of the rubber bushes though. Many 348 components carried on into the 355 so they can be swapped around.

The increased track though may have been achieved via offsets of the 355 wheels as mentioned and the arms measure up the same between both models but we do not have access to any 348 ones, maybe someone here does and we can compare as we do have access to 355 versions.

348 and 355 front control arms are exactly the same size, the only difference on the lower ones is the sway bar mounting holes. top ones are identical and so are the rear arms as well.

Not at all. Offset and spacers will. Post pics!
