How old were you when you bought your first Ferrari?

im fairly sure that many of us have done something of that sort when we were younger. While john's story obviously puts everyone else's to shame [in terms of money], we've all done something of the sort when we were hot shot teenagers. Just like pap; when I was about 16-17 I was very interested in videography and had saved up enough money for a Canon XL1; I'd gone to the camera store and asked if I could take a look at the camera I was going to buy...the guy behind the counter looked at me rather rudely and reluctantly handed it over after taking it out of the case. after about 5 seconds of looking it over I told him i'd take it. He probably thought I was kidding, but I assured him that I was serious. a $4.5k video camera at the time, without even flinching. I'd done the same thing with many other fairly big-ticket items, but this is probably the most significant.

Like I said, it has to do with having something to prove at such a young age. like teaching people not to judge so harshly on based on first impressions/appearance. And that's precisely what's happening here. You hear one story that rubs you the wrong way, and you think you know the guy. I've never met John [yet], but hearing other people's experiences has assured me that he's someone who deserves all the respect one can give. If nothing else, I can certainly admire him for sharing his cars with others from this site, and the same can be said with any owners on the site sharing/showing their cars for people to see/touch/site/drive/whatever.

 

I bought my 308gts for my 29th birthday present, and I'm 32 now. I don't know if I'll buy another one. My money is doing a good job working for me right now, so I don't want to miss out on that by putting it into another car. The 308 has scratched my itch and I really don't need anything else. I wouldn't mind having a 348 or a testarossa for a daily driver, but the engine out service is a big turn off for me. I would love to get a carb'd BB and drive it accross the US. I know that needs and engine out service too, but since it's a classic 12cyl carb'd car it doesn't bother me.

I saw a 348 this year while I was biking with friends and just went crazy, and I knew that I needed that car.

Hopefully I can afford one, one day.

Bought mine for my 40th b-day... my luck up to now in past relationships with women has made it pretty clear that I will spend my life alone. So I put all my passion into fulfilling my dream, and now all my focus is on ME, and my baby... a 1991 348ts (BTW, i'm still 40.. ive only had the car for almost 2 months now)

@ 29 a 328;

Needed something to leave wife, just fast enough. Next one will be a 355 for mom, then I hope 550 convertable for the weekends.

 

53 for first on one 11-30-02, I guess 58 for the next one.

 

36 for a 1995 F355 GTB. Should have had at the age of 25!!!!!

Now I am going for my second. The F355 is staying. Just adding another horse to the family.
