Ah but you now own an F-car in probably one of the best locations in the world. Baaaveria. I love Germany. I have friends in Passau. Nice roads, Autobahn etc. Just came back a few months ago. If ever I get the chance to buy a new F-car I want to drive it to the Nurburgring.
I was in Italy visiting with my relatives when I saw my first Ferrari. ( 1968) I vowed to have one by my 30th birthday. Here she is, 1981, 308 GTBi. I bought it from a guy in D.C. who had left it uncared for in his back yard. I felt like I rescued it. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Zebra you visited a year after I was born. You know what, like me that car has not aged. lol Just kiding. The 308 is just the most beautiful car. Enjoy.
Hell I wish I would have been that smart at 30!! I'm now paying for my frivolous lifestyle, at 43 my Ferrari is still just a dream and I have NO overhead other than my $450 car/ins payment and I've never been married and no kid's. Make's me feel like a 'waste of space' sometime's.
Thanks Brett, The car I saw back then was a 206 GT, you can imagine my reaction when I saw it. My cousin and I were passed by a black Bizzarini while driving back from my Zia Carmela's house. That was an experience I'll never forget. I didn't see another one until the concorso in Little Italy( Baltimore) this year. I loved the 308 series, they had just come out when I was a junoir in high school.
The first two 1:18 Ferraris I bought were a Yellow Testarossa, and a Silver F50. I bought them both at local swap meet for $15 back when i was 10 years old. here is a picture of them http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s131/DylanK890/DSC_0645.jpg http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s131/DylanK890/DSC_0644.jpg Then in 2003 my dads friend bought a Tour De France Blue 550 w/ Black and Blue int. and i was lucky enough to get a ride in it. Ever since then I've always wanted my own 550. I am now 17 turning 18 in less than a month and my goal is to own a 550 in by my 28th b-day (x-mass 2017 ). But i might stop off for a Porsche 944 along the way.
Hey Mate, Come for October Fest? Lots of you from "Down-Under" make that pilgrimage yearly. You too? Yeah I like the Autobahn, but I just do not drive that fast, average 70-90 mph. The ride is over way too soon! I log my F-Car hours like pilots log flight hours. Sounds corny, but when I am 101 and God willing, I'll be able to re-live each minute in my car. mwr4440
Bought my first 1:18 scale F360 Challenge model at 15. Now 19 and targeting a real F430 Challenge. I don't care if I have to wait until I'm 40 or 50 (worst case scenarios), I definitely want it.
Just set a goal of having one and make it happen. Drive used cars instead of new ones, cook at home instead of going out, rent movies instead of going to theaters, raise the deductable on your insurance to save on premiums, lots of ways to raise the extra cash to buy one. Spend time now, learning how to service it yourself, so that when the time comes to buy it, you can save money on maintenance and make it affordable. I was 53 when I bought mine and I have a blast with it. I spent 6 months looking for the right car and teaching myself how to maintain it. Fchat is the BEST resource for that. *You're never to old to make the Ferrari dream come true.
I've been looking into buying a house soon, that's my first goal. Next major goal will be buying a Ferrari. I'd love to get a 360, but I'd be happy with a 355, too.
Thank's for the reply, insight and support my friend. I'm in the process of starting a new career that will be very rewarding financially with hard work and I'm prepared to work my a$$ off to make my personal goal's and dream's reach fruition. Concerning all the money saving idea's you listed above I do all of those anyway my problem was alway's 'money management' but I have overcome that indiscrection and I'm slowing reaping the reward's, maybe alittle late at 43yr's old but atleast I'm reaping right !! I have alway's done all the work on my vehicle's so atleast I have a decent base to build upon when I do aquire my Ferrari. I'm gradually getting to know the Fcar owner's in my area and letting them know I am willing to assist them in any basic maintenance that they like to do themselve's so I can aquire some knowledge. Thank's for taking the time to reply to me I appreciate it alot, Gregg
I'm 21 now. Not an owner yet but it could happen anytime...any day now. I'm looking into a 360. As previous poster stated...No kids, no huge bills except of mortgage. This car seems accessible
Age 30- Testarossa. Loved these cars growing up but never thought I would own one! Had it for two years now.
