maybe you remember long long time ago we had spell check and it was a mess. best solution is honestly to copy your post into word or email, spell check, and then post. that way you have a copy in case something happens before it is posted. there are also some third party tools mentioned where you could right click text and spell check it right there.
What about a sort of blog section for people who wants to write something about an experience? I'm talking about something like this http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=293644 I wonder how many of these stories people misses just because they are in some sections they don't usually read.
Maybe in the future, but right now I think 800 is the right size. maybe before we raised the embedded size I would thumbnail to 800 so you could still access the hi-res. something to think about, but not a pressing priority I don't think. 800 is plenty for reading a thread efficiently, if you are looking for larger sized images it is for the wrong reasons.
I might be slow considering the hour but I have no clue of how to reach it from the home page... Total Blogs 4 Total Entries 26 Today's Entries 0 Considering stats I might not be the only one. A forum or sub-forum dedicated to stories like that would make it way more visible. Anyway I have no detailed idea if there'd be enough threads to justify the opening of a new section. Another thing, a thread with links to restoration/WIP threads? A sticky thread at the top of each model specific discussion. Anyway, let me finish saying this is without doubt one of the most interesting car communities on the web. You did a really great job.
you are right, the blog functionality isn't readily accessible. not all users can add a blog, they have to request it from me. when we started the blogs I promoted the heck out of it on threads and in the newsletter. as you see there was very little response and even those that were excited about it at first didn't continue. It has been my intent to give it a 2nd round of promotion. FYI, users with a blog have it as a link on their post header like mine, I think accessible from Profile too. yes, 308/328 has a great master restoration/WIP thread. last month I just announced a new "Project Master" program and it will have its own page and be readily accessible.
FWIW I don't like the "thanking" function. On other forums it clutters things and gets in the way....12 users say Thank You for this post...under half the postings, and it's just juvenile. Then it turns into who can get the most thanks and guys posting stuff like, hey no one appreciates me I never get thanked. Not worth it.
Hooray my suggestion has been implemented. Now for my next suggestion... Adding ispy Real-time feed of new posts/threads http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=125947 It makes finding interesting or happening threads much easier
Can we get a Quick Reply function added. With the implementation of embedded YouTube videos, having the quick reply available will not stop the video from playing and can add our comment regarding the video, or quite possibly replying faster instead of hitting 'New Reply'.
I believe it was done before, but I can't remember why, but IIRC, the IMG tags expire after a certain amount of time, while attaching the images keep them alive forever. I hope that is not something else, if so, disregard.
I see how that would be a problem. But ever since the Tapatalk app switched to IMG tag uploads, I've been wanting to find a solution to uploading photos from my phone.
