Curious HP and more importantly what kind of performance (1/4 mile & braking) improvements over the 2+2 vintage years.

    250 GTE
    330 America
    330 2+2 SI
    330 2+2 SII
    365 2+2

    Thanks,
    rob

I think that finding reliable numbers is a little difficult.

The factory owner's manuals for the cars suggest 235 DIN horsepower for the 250 GTE, and 300 for the 330 engines. Those same sources are silent on acceleration figures for the 250. Oddly enough, the factory literature for the 330 claims a fairly wide range of 7.5 to 8.5 for a 0-60, and 25.5 to 27.5 seconds for 0-125.

On all of these 2+2, independent tests showed a variety of both 0-60 and quarter miles times. I think that the variation reflected both a variation between different examples of the same car, but also different launch techniques that were used.

One thing can be said, though: the cars definitely increased in power and (more important to perceived performance) torque throughout the years.

At some point I'd like to take my 330 to a dyno and find out how accurate the 300 DIN horsepower claim is.

On Ferrari.com it says the 365 2+2 is 320 HP, not a big increase from a 330 2+2. Anyone that has driven both that can explain the seat of pants difference? I might imagine the Queen Mother might weigh quite a bit more and might actually perform worse than the 330?

I concour with the 250 Numbers - Mine was 0-64Kms in about 7.6 seconds and I have a couple of old docs saying about the same (old Italian Mag from 1963)... Of course I cannot verify the 125mph numbers - Since I did not take mine over 100mph - no seatbelts in my 61 - so I was a little scared to do much more than that :)

The 300 to 320 HP increase was the same as that going from a 330GTC to a 365GTC. A couple of old FML articles I have says the increase in torque was the more significant improvement, but they contain no figures.

It's been a long time since I drove a 330 GTC, but I do recall feeling much stroner acceleration in the 365. And the FML article indicates pretty healthy performance improvement of 0 to 100 times, from 16.7 down to 14.7.

for the 365, the manual says 320hp @6600, and it weighs 3223 lbs.
The old road tests I've seen say 0-60 in 7.1
