I need facts that support that the primary focus for F1 is the WDC

Racing for the drivers championship will never affect constructors championship´s chances; but the opposite situation does not always happen. So, why not applying team orders, etc.. so you maximize your chances in BOTH championships?

IMO, drivers championship´s is more important for the fans, so it´s more important for the sponsors and then for the teams, but I suppose that team principals don´t give any priority to WDC over WCC, because if you win the drivers championship you´ll probably win WCC too.

 

Individuals, even team members, find it easiest to relate to an individual's success than they to a more abstract entity no doubt about it.

 

Of course there is some spin off from a WDC in car sales but they sell a lot more paraphernalia than they do cars. In Ferrari's case even on a dollar weighted basis.

 

There was no constructors' title for the first ten years of F1.

They only created that as a consolation prize.

The WCC doesn't receive #1 ( and #2 ) designations the following year.

 

The "vast vast majority" of F1 fans couldn't spell "cat" if you spotted them the "C" and the "A". Don't lump everyone into your little category just because your memory is hazy. I know I can recall the WCC's that Ferrari won when they were edged out of the WDC and I'm sure I'm just one of many who can.

Of course at that moment you aren't celebrating the Constructors Championship but later on you sure would ! As I said, Joe fan wants the WDC, but the TEAM cherishes the WCC for many reasons that you all apparently don't understand, mostly for the money, but the #1 pit stall the following season ain't bad.

 

There wasn't that much money involved for winning the first 10 years either. The WCC was created as an avenue to distribute the money to the winning constructors and we all know that money is the bottom line in F1.

 

#1 pit stall doesn't matter at the newer tracks, since all pit garages are the same size now. At some tracks it's actually a disadvantage (hockenheim for example) because there's a lot of paint (advertisement normally) right in your braking zone..


I don't think anyone on here works for Ferrari, so most are just happy when their favourite driver win the WDC, and none really care all that much for the WCC. I know I don't.

Tell you what though...would kinda suck if you're any of the drivers in the team that won the WCC but failed to get the WDC

A bit OT but I'm curious. Has a team ever won the WDC and finished 3rd in the WCC? It may be the case this year if Alonso takes it.

 

There's one F-Chatter who is with Mercedes (ex-Brawn employee) but its been a while since he posted.

 

If I could remember it I would. He posted in Silver I believe.
As I remember the job with Brawn was his first out of school.

 

Maybe you all can take the time to log on to F1.com and read all the RedBull team and driver quotes, and have a look at the team photos, that will answer your questions about how much the team cherishes the WCC.

Call me jaded but the RB comments seemed to be prepared statements written in anticipation of the clinch.
