Some friends and I saw an unknown vintage Ferrari driving in Carmel Valley during the Pebble Beach Concourse, and I can't seem to figure out what it is. It looks like a 166 in the front, but then the back transforms into something I've never seen before. Maybe someone on here knows what it is, because I would love to know. Thanks!

    Marcel,

Are you saying that this is not the car that influenced the T-bird design?

The rumors are that that car indeed did influence the T-Bird. But many people believe it was built for Henry Ford when in fact it was not.

    Marcel knows best.

So between 1952 and 2005 did H Ford ever actually own it?

0253 EU was imported to USA in 1953 and then went to the Ford Family in Dearborn. It was displayed in the Ford Museum. In 1955 it was sold to John J. Egan of Grosse Point Farms, MI. In 1956 it was sold by Egan to Dick Merritt who paid US$ 3'600. Merritt re-sold it to Bill Moffett of Golden, CO, for $ 4'500. Later to Tom Barrett in AZ, then Bernie Morgan in Indianapolis (1966), then Peter Cottrell in MN, to Dr. Frederick Simeone in PA (1980), then via Swiss dealer Lukas Hüni to Henri Chambon in France (10/1997), then Bob Petersen in L.A. in March 2005.

The two best articles on this car that I know of are by Dennis Adler in Car Collector of March 2006 and Christian Philippsen's article on the internet which I printed out 8/7/07 including a contact at [email protected]. These fill in some of the gaps in the Barchetta page. tongascrew
