Good morning all, I am about to purchase a fuel injected 1980 308gts with 21,000km from Germany. I have already had a 1985 308 and I absolutely loved it. This one is exterior color Grigio metallic and interior color is red. I am going to pay a Ferrari Mechanic in Germany to check it out. Is there anything I should be aware of? I have read up on it a lot and I know bushings could be a problem. Thank you for your help, Sam
@Dr Tommy Cosgrove My <guess> it could be chassis 31445 Do you have anything on it? @samson Sam - Usual applies: Was it originally a USA or Euro delivery car? Condition, books, tools, records etc. apply to end value/cost.
I imported a 308 from Germany last year - if you don't already have an importer lined up to bring it to the States, I can provide you with a recommendation.
Ferrari built probably zero injected 308's for anyone other than the USA in 1980. They were still supplying the rest of the world with the carbed S way down late into 1980. That chassis number is a USA injected car and I am always interested in why the hell anyone in Europe would want to import a US car. Our emissions choked the hell out of them.
Funny you say that... this is why I asked the OP the US vs. Euro question: If 31445 is correct, here's a pic of the rear valence, a modified US to hybrid. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thing is by now that can easily be mods by an owner. My 84 QV is a US model. But it has (real) Euro rear view mirrors and GTSi on the back. Neither are factory. A common mod is black spray paint on the fender vents on non QV cars. Lots of owner personal tastes adorn these cars now 40-50 years later Look at the VIN. If you see an A in the 10th place, it's a 1980 USA car. Don't look at the car, look at the VIN.
That picture is what the rear looks like. It has the smaller rear and front bumpers. I am trying to get the VIN number, if I do, I will post it. Thank you again for all of your help.
@samson I did a partial picture out of respect that you're negotiating on the car. VIN would provide the original destination country. From my take on various pictures (if it's chassis 31445) it's likely a US car with side markers removed, added front fender signal repeaters, and Euro bumpers. Either way, the Grigio over Rosso is absolutely stunning! Good luck on the negotiations, let me/us know if you bring it stateside...
I should know around 3/24/25 from the seller. He is going to give me a price to ship from door to door. ZikZak, if I need your info I will let you know. I appreciate all of your help with this purchase.
THE VIN IS zffaa02a1a0031445.If anyone can give me any info on this car I would be very grateful. Does $9,000 seem fair to have it delivered to my home in Port Saint Lucie, Florida from Germany?
According to https://www.ferraribeverlyhills.com/the-registry… USA model, manufactured March 14, 1980. Not much else. Maybe Marcel Massini has more info?
Hi all, is the upgraded fuse panel still available for the 1980 308 gts. It is the US version and would you know the price? Thanks
Hi all, when I looked at the picture that was sent to me, I see the TIRES are 10 years old. Can you tell me if P205/70 R14 will fit? Just wondering on the 1980 308 GTS if the front and rear tires are the same size? Thanks
