Does anyone have an SD2 near Mobile AL? 2003 360 F1. push Sport mode and the word sport lights up for a second and goes off. No other indication. No physical damage that I can find with the sensors. Car rides normal.

Any suggestions? I think it is time to see what the SD2 can do.

    Thanks,
    Dan

It could be your switch which is worn and can just close the contact temporarily.
Does-it help if you maintain the switch toward the Sport position?

If I hold the switch down the light stays on until I release it. But, there is no change in the ride or suspension settings.

If I toggle the switch several times, the light will then stay on for about 3 or 4 seconds and then go off.

If I toggle it enough times it will start flashing the symbol of the car "Suspension System" on the multifunction display. I think this is more because I toggle the switch too much. the car does not do anything different at this time either. As soon as I turn off and restart the car this warning goes away.

The switches there are the same, except for the stenciling. So I switched it with one of the other switches and it all did the same. The sport switch worked in the other spots, and the other switches did not work any different in the sport switch position.

    Thank you,

The Sport mode circuit is rather simple. I have posted a diagram in this thread : http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/360-430/192922-modification-race-mode-cs-sport-mode-360-a-2.html

I would suggest that you measure the voltage on pins 15 and 9 of the suspension ECU. On both pins, you should find #0V in Sport mode and #12V in Normal mode.

As the output of the suspension ECU is connected to the dash (and so to the other ECUs through the CAN bus), a faulty one could prevent the selection of Sport mode for all the other ECUs.

Eric- Good advice. Swapping a similar switch and seeing if that solves the problem is another diagnostic that can be done. Just make sure it is another simple on-off switch.

    Eric,

Thanks for the information. I take it from what you are saying that if the outputs are not 0V and 12V respectively, the suspension ECU may be bad.

also, does the switch send a constant signal to the Suspension ECU while the sport mode is on or is it toggle on, toggle off?

So the dash sends a signal to the other ECU's when the light is on? If this is the case, and when I hold the button down the dash light stays on it should put it in sport mode with respect to the other ECU's, correct?

    Thanks,

Wow, I didn't paid enough attention to your post #3.
All the switches are not the same. Only the Sport switch is bistable : in Normal mode the contact is opened, in Sport mode it is closed (and should stay closed). All the other switches are monostable, the contact is closed momentarily when you press the switch then it opens again.
It seems that your Sport switch is faulty because you mention that the light stay on if you maintain the switch. It is not so easy to discriminate the Sport mode from the Normal mode on the suspension but, as you have a F1, you can check easily if yes or no your TCU is in Sport if you maintain the switch.

For what regards the voltages, you should measure a steady 12V on both pins when you are in Normal mode, and a steady 0V on both pins in Sport mode.

Thanks Eric, I will replace the switch. I am glad it has come to something simple.

I have the identical problem in my 2002 F360 6 speed car. The exhaust was changed to TUBI before I got the car (if that matters).....did switch replacement work/solve the problem?
Where can I buy one online?
    Thanks
