    All interesting and valid points!

As for unitary body, that is a new consideration. Means (per se) that Indy thus is more rust prone? Or more complex to repair?

Hmm. Should mean that fewer cars remain today than I would have thought. And that even fewer will be put back to codd/excellent condition.

Maybe 50% remain rather than 70-80%...

As for 4-seater unattractiveness, I would agree for most models. But the Indy being so cleverly penned, has such a low and supercar profile unlike all other 4 seaters, that it has nothing 4 seater over it. Like the Aston Martin DBS/V8 from 70's. That car's esteem is not punished despite a real 2+2/4 seater like the Indy.

Wonder which other Forums attract other Maserati owners?

Definitely they are more likely out enjoying their cars, with such reliable running gear!

    :)

You're not going to "really" figure out if you like the car by internet "shopping". Try to find a some Italian or Maserati events and meet owners of that model there.

GET A RIDE AT LEAST. IN A NICE EXAMPLE!

If you meet some really nice folks and aren't an over bearing jerk about it you could probably also get a decent drive as well.

It worked for me back in the mid 1980s which is how I met most of the great folks from the Northern California Maserati club.

Most people are pretty nice and understand that we all need some help with cars like this.

It's pretty hard to get a very good idea about a car at a dealer or from someone who's actively trying to sell their car and that's very understandable.

Too bad you weren't at Monterey this year. I drove an Indy for a friend from Sacramento down to the event. Another club member took delivery of an Indy down there and there were another two long term owners (25+ years) there who are friends of mine. You could have learned one hell of a lot there that weekend.

Most posts here seem quite well informed, and for own sake I am a happy convinced owner of an Indy. Drive it regularly and have done good mileage this summer with the car.

Which is the main reason for my thread. Car is so impressive in quality, drivability and also wrt looks/opinions it generates by passengers/bypassers that I cannot understand why model is not more in focus. Stirs "Bond atmosphere" with its cool and composed 70s styling, and seems very topical and fashionable these days.

Appreciation has clearly been low for this model ocer last 10-20 years, but tastes change. And few could argue about its fabulous drive line, sound and build quality if they have experienced a good example.

Those that have driven good examples seem to agree.

I love my Indy and think the rarity and practicality are big plus points. It’s always really admired everywhere. No one starts comparing it to a Ghibli in real life as there isn’t one there! The one downside is that maintenance costs are high - and so maybe that’s easier to justify if you paid 6x as much for a Ghibli!

I have a friend who has owned his almost since new. He bought it from another AF pilot in Germany when he was deployed there.
He's learned how to work on it himself for the most part. There ARE more expensive to maintain vintage Maseratis, much more expensive.
Good to see you enjoying it. I drove a pretty nice one 4 years ago through some California hills and quite enjoyed the rude. They have one of the highest quality interiors of the late 60's - early 70's exotics.

Interesting to see that you have "tracked" the car.
The Indy is not à lightweight and is said to have à heavy nose steering...
What are your feelings wrt handling when hard driving (steering, handling, braking)?
    And was it with XWXs?
