different. different trends, ideas. and a totally different life style. there is a Latin teacher here now for maybe 10 years from Queensland. he wants us to be remade in his homeland. I ask why he left. O', he could not make a living at home, hello. an Amercian Yoga teacher, lived in your country for 25 years. had to return, he could not make a living wage. a school teacher, from here. young, moved to Perth two years ago. got a job and is doing great. Whayne from Tazmania came here to see about buying my car. did not like me at all. thought I was just awful, Simon. we left the best of friend. I treated him as I would family. great guy with a super wife and sis. brother in law. I may not come across well here. but I have no axe to grind with anyone. traveled extensively. though not to your area. my first job out of college, police. revenue agent in the eastern mt. of Ky. before that us military police. I learned just how awful people can be right out of the box. I never drew a gun on either job. carried one all the time, 45 in the military and anything that went bang on the other job. I and I saw a lot of awful things. I was on of the lucky ones and after getting shot in the right arm I got out. 3 years @ $415 a month. chicken.`

the US President is correct. gun control is needed at every door. the people that go to these, 'gun shows' are a scary bunch. I am so relieved that the ball is finally dropping on this bunch of mostly nut cases. my personal opinion. my only issue. the track record that he has in the past is awful and full of incompetence, lack planning and true abuse of American rights. they have lied when caught so many times that I have no trust.

Why ban something that makes up less then 2 percent of crimes? Thats like banning red cars because they are involved in 2 percent of traffic deaths.

I responded to a direct quote. I could care less what Obama says about AR15's. I have one and probably will buy another if I feel I want one.

 

That depends. Is the sole point of cars to kill things, and is the point of painting them red making them specifically better at killing things? Because if it's not, then that analogy is as dumb as it has always been.

 

It's not worth trying to explain to these Die Hards that firearms were only designed to one thing only,that is to kill something.

They'll always come up with an excuse to show up their shortcomings.

 

I own an AR and haven't killed anything I use it for shooting at targets. So using your argument the sole purpose of a firearm isn't to kill things. I know plenty of guys who owns gun's because they enjoy shooting not hunting.

 

I shoot skeet with my shotgun, it has never killed anything except some clay. I guess I am using it incorrectly?

 

In that case presumably you'd be happy to leave your guns at the shooting range, rather than have them in your house?

 

Gentleman. I don't know what truly the right answer is here. We can look at Switzerland which has the highest gun per capita ownership out of any other country in the EU and also one of the lowest violent crime rates. We can also look at the UK which has more violent crimes per capita then the us by a long shot. Do I think I have all the answers, no I am not that arrogant. Do I think the answer is no guns? No I don't. Do I think everyone should own firearms? No I don't. I feel the truth is somewhere in between the two.

My property is big enough I can shoot legally in my yard. I also do have the permit to carry a handgun on me at all times.

Weren't cars originally designed for just transportation not for enjoyment or racing? Its tragic cars are being neglected and people are being killed in them. I am not missing a point at all. To say something is only good for one thing is illogical at best.

Why don't we start a thread telling Arabs how to run their countries?

 

Pretty sure there've been a few wars lately where we did exactly that...
