Unlike any other country, the USA has a constitution that guarantees the rights of the people over the government, which came about due to their history of getting rid of the British. The 2nd amendment is supported by a majority of Americans and it will never change. Many people in my experience recognise the downsides, but think it's a price worth paying.

The U.S. is a huge dichotomy - the land of democracy and the free... except they all want to keep their guns to protect themselves in case "the government goes bad" and a big chunk seem to be terrified by their neighbors; take a look in P&R to see how many believe both the FBI and Supreme Court are corrupt? I've come to the conclusion the NRA are correct - guns aren't the problem...the people are the problem, they can't see the wood for the trees.

Hopefully the Florida teenagers are going to make some progress despite the 'adults'.
