Decades old gun deaths poster goes viral again - Full Fact https://fullfact.org/crime/how-many-people-are-killed-handguns-us/
Lost me @ "WEST Germany"..... lol USA would NOT even be in the top 15 in deaths/population Stop the fear mongering http://www.easybakegunclub.com/data/users/2012/07/16/2/user_albums/14/GunControl_yb9grq.jpg
So, people are just walking into the bullets at a higher number than anywhere else in the world ? It may be an old recycled sign but doesn't mean it's not close to the truth
Looks like it's still damning, even if you take 2000 off the number....and that doesn't include Florida or Alabama
Have a look at these current facts. This is year to date......June 1 2018. http://www.gunviolencearchive.org
The 11k figure is just homicides - add in another 21K suicides, 505 accidental shootings and 281 'indeterminate intent' deaths...
Sure, places like Honduras, El Slavador and Swaziland are way ahead of them. But at 11.96 per 100,000 they are the ONLY western country anywhere near double digits. Australia is 1.04 for the same year... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_firearm-related_death_rate
Thanks for pointing this out, the thread title should be changed to "Is it time for gun control in Honduras and Venezuela ? "
Bogus post, "automatic weapons" have been banned in USA since 1986 No, they will remind you that automatic weapons have been banned in USA since 1986, its a nonsensical meme
What’s nonsensical is you using that irrelevant minor detail - bump stocks are still legal - to try to discredit the message.
Big fan of firearms, no issue with them etc, but this is simply insane, AND a alleged FBI field agent? https://www.smh.com.au/world/north-america/fbi-agent-does-a-backflip-in-a-club-drops-his-gun-and-accidentally-shoots-someone-police-say-20180604-p4zj8z.html Just a few issues: Loaded firearm, as in one in the chamber Safety not on Gun not secured in a holster Possible drinking and drunk Should he even be carrying if off duty [refer, not sure on the regulations with this] Worst, dances like s/hit Hope the injured person is ok, will be rich soon.... Interested to see what the FBI do [most likely nothing] a stunt like this in Australia, he would be stood done, perhaps sacked A wake up call for FBI agents in USA, where is J.E.Hoover when you need him....
Hard and fast rule, well, ok at least two actually. 1. Weapon retention. Know where it is, have it under your control at all times. AT ALL TIMES. 2. Drinking and your gun don't mix, ever. So, given that, if he was drinking the gun should have been left home. If he headed out and wasn't sure what the evening was going to bring, then once he hit the first bar, gun should have been secured in a gun safe in his car. (Wife had one in her trunk all the time. Well, again, two actually, she had a service gun and a backup) Barring that, locked in the glove box, take keys from valet parking and put back in his control. Clearly he broke ALL of those rules, because even if he was sober, doing back flips while carrying a holstered weapon would violate the weapon retention notion. Wife says he's gonna get fired. She should know. If he had been assigned to her group back in the day, he'd get suspended immediately, get his hearing, lose his pension (If he'd been in that long and it was appropriate to do so) and be out on his ear. Really a dumb ass thing to do, I'm pretty sure woman and alcohol are involved. D
Looking at the video, and i am happy to say the gun did not fire when it hit the ground, guns are well made, robust, and safe, which leaves the fact that when he has picked it up he has pulled the trigger, also the safety was not on, this is beyond novice level. Ask your wife, are field agents trained to have a gun armed/cocked with one round ready to fire, i think not.[please advise] I think he needs basic training again, the whole FBI's name has been tarnished
Empty chamber? Nope, gun's not ready to fire without a round in the chamber. Cocked? Doesn't have to be "cocked" to fire when you yank on the trigger, but you don't leave it in your holster with the hammer pulled back either, that's for sure. So it would take some finger pressure to get it to fire. Safety? Again, not all guns have them, my Sig 226 doesn't, her S&W M&P 9C doesn't either. But empty chamber? Nope, not if you're wearing it. If you're storing it in your desk during the work day, then probably not a round in the chamber, and the magazine is out as well. D
Was it a Glock? They have those stupid trigger safeties. When the local Police were first issued them, I was working in A&E and had two guys shot themselves in 4 months holstering them - one in the thigh, one in the foot. Incidentally, a few of my patients are cops, and they are taught to have one up the spout, which I think is lunacy.
LOL to that, you don't think they've lost all credibility already after being used by the DNC for partisan political purposes?
