I put my 328 up for sale on ferrariads. I only had 2 people email me about it. I'm not desperate to sell it but I would like to sell it before the end of this summer. Do you think my asking price is too high? Thanks http://www.ferrarichat.com/ferrariads/showproduct.php?product=1165
Im not a 328 expert, though I did look at some in my search for a testarossa. 64,000$ seems to be fully dealer priced, and then some... From what I could tell: Ratty 328: $35000 decent $40,000 pristine $50,000, perhaps low fifties. 64,000$ should represent a museum quality 328. That pricing is well into 355 territory. Either way, I wish you luck!
mostly agree with what you say. have been looking intensely for several months. One thing you left out is the premium for 89's. I'd say up to 60k for top of line. i just paid 54 for this one with 27k miles. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=110662 although i don't think i stole it. i think i got a good deal. i will say i have seen a couple of 89 328's sell for 70k in the last month. both from private sellers. i did look at your car and was not willing to pay that much. but i am patient and cheap. i would keep advertising at that price for awhile if you don't need to sell it and see what happens.
When I went to sell my 360 Modena, I found an interesting dynamic, which may or may not apply to an older car like a 328. Most buyers seemed more comfortable buying from a known dealer or broker, and paying the dealer retail for it. There was no way I could sell my car for the same amount that dealers were getting. Almost all the inquiries I got were from dealers and brokers, who, of course, would only offer wholesale. There didnt' seem to be the standard middle ground private party sale. -steve
When I sold my 328 I didn't recieve any responses from Ferrari ads all my responses came from other ads. Your car may be priced alittle high, but it is the right year, color combo with low mileage. IMO your ad does't have enough information about the car including the service history. The 30k service was done at 11000 miles, but how many years ago.
I felt that way when I bought mine. $64K isn't too far out of line for an '89 GTS with 14K miles if the major service was done recently (you didn't list the date it was done), but FerrariAds doesn't exactly reach the whole world. And the price is retail, for a 328 with a current major/belt service completed. Get on eBay, Ferrari Market Letter and/or DuPont Registry as well. The simple fact is that there aren't many people out there shopping for Ferraris, period. You've got to find someone who's ready to buy a Ferrari, likes 328s, wants red, and likes the late model enough to pay a premium (I wanted a pre-88.5 car only). It doesn't help that you can get a red/tan '87 for $50K-ish. It takes a while to get retail for a car, but be patient. If you can live with $59K, I think it would sell much sooner. But if want more out of it then cast a wider net and spend some $$ advertising it.
I think it may be priced a tad high. I also agree there was not enough details in the ad. I noticed it was high, and therefore did not bother to PM you for questions regarding the car. And twice, the high res picture site crashed my PC when I tried to view the pics. It might be good to use thumbnails and or some type of viewer to make that happen easier. Granted my PC is not the newest PC around, but throw 50+ high res pics at FULL size at it and it will slow down the best of them. Nice car though! my
I just paid that for an 89 red on tan with 4855 original miles. Unfortunately the owner did not do the required service and his reciepts are forged. So now Im 72000 dollars into the car. I of course dont care at this point since I have such an amazing low mileage original car. I will be at Concorso this summer for those who want to see. I think since you did the service your price is right maybe a 1000 dollar discount if you become friends with the buyer and get visitation rights. JJ
