Long time lurker, but only want a blue car... this 308 just got relisted, didn't meet its reserve with high bid at $56K. Curious if anybody here knows the car, or even can give me any pointers from the listing and photos. I'm looking for a driver, so I don't mind some of the cosmetic issues or relatively simple mechanical stuff (I'm always adding/messing around with my 74 Pantera). One question is I thought Azurro blue was much lighter, and this looks more like Sera, Scuro, or Montecarlo according to 308-328.com color codes.

I'm in Los Angeles, so if anyone is in the Memphis area and knows a good place to have it inspected, that'd be great... or happy to pay somebody from this board who's local to take a look at it too. Thanks.

Ask the seller to post a photo of the color sticker, it's usually on the underside of the motor cover and will have the paint code.

Should there be a Cavallino on the front grill?

Love the different shades of that color. This car looks a little darker in color, but maybe it's just the light. Waiting to hear back from the seller on the paint code.

The color changes with the available light. I have some photos where the car looks a few shades lighter. That is one of the things that I really enjoy with this color.

Looks like monte carlo blue to me or maybe non-factory color.

With regard to the car the OP is looking at, my bet is on Blu Montecarlo

Looks non-metallic so good bet it’s Montecarlo.

Also looks like an homage to the Corbani Dino; blue with Gotti wheels.

Yeah, I think it's this Blu Sera... which is what I want. Now if only the seller would respond to me about seeing/inspecting the car. I mean, unless @blue308qv you're looking to sell yours! haha

Never. Sold it once before. Begged to buy it back for 10 years. Finally he agreed a few months back.

Yeah, I read your thread about it, that's why I couldn't resist. Great story, and beautiful car.

There's more blues in the 1975 thru 1985 cars than one would suspect....

...or it could perhaps be Blu Scuro Dino (20-A-357) which looks usually dark, but blue colors react quite a lot to the light?

Remember also that the paint provider changed in the spring of 1981: paints before that date were manufactured by Glidden (Saalchi), and after that date by Glasurit.
There WAS indeed a "Blu Sera" in the Glidden (Saalchi) range, which was 106-A-18, but it might be related, or might not be related at all, to the same color manufactured by Glasurit, which is 504/C...
Your best answer would be the paint label under the engine hood.

Just from a cursory look at the pictures, that car looks ridden hard. Weird gold color on some of the emblems. Missing the knurled nuts on the air cleaner, rust, etc. Gotti wheels are cool and period correct but not original. Paint does not look like a Salchi or Glidden Azzuro. Seller should have taken $56k.

PPI by knowledgeable mechanic will be essential.

I’m in Memphis. Never seen this car before. We really don’t have any shops in town with much experience on these cars but Mercedes of Collierville has a pretty sharp tech that I have used on my 458 and previously my 456.

Didn't make its reserve, again, and relisted... but still not contact from the seller so not worth the gamble unless he lowered his reserve. Oh well, i'll keep looking. Thanks everybody for your input and guidance.
