Anyone have any information or insight as to when Japan will open up to tourists?
I recently read they were opening in June, however had a weird sounding requirement for the moment to be on some sort of tour. It's a lovely country to visit, if you haven't yet had the opportunity.
There is a cooking knife district! Kind of amazing. I do a all the cooking and have a giant pile of Japanese knives. My favorite is a nakiri that I've had for over a decade and it doesn't need to be sharpened....not by a long shot. A single moment of inattentiveness and you can easily deknuckle a finger and not know it right away. I reverse juggle mine for ****zenggiles.
Tokyo is such a cool but bizarre place. So many different areas in city that cater to so many different interests. Harajuko, Takeshita street, Don Quijoti shops, Akihabara, etc.
My fav city is Kyoto, if you are into historic gardens and temples, museums and the like, it has over 2000 !
That's a special nakiri. I never had an edge hold that long. If must be from a top maker and expensive?
