I'm not talking about that kind of juicing... I'm talking about the act of taking fruits and vegetables and making them liquid. I'm looking for any favorite recipes for meal replacement drinks. Thanks! GT
We do this one almost daily. I drink 4-6oz. Green Lemonade: 6 leaves kale 4 stalks celery 2 sweet apples 1 whole lemon 1" ginger root 2 packs Stevia -Billy
Thanks! This may be a stupid question, but by "whole" lemon, do you include the peel as well? I know that some people do so I thought it was worth asking... GT
That is pretty much the "Mean Green" juice recipe. I leave out the stevia and only use half a lemon and add a cucumber. I drink this almost daily, usually in the evenings. jointhereboot.com will send you recipes In the mornings I have the juice of 4 fuji apples and 2 pears. Besides juicing I am also eating a lot more raw fruits throughout the day. I will say that most of my vegetables are cooked except for the juice but I'm trying to go more raw on them. For a snack I juice apple, pear, and celery. If you have any health issues do a lot of green stuff, Kale, celery, cilantro, etc. Balance out the taste with the lemon and ginger. The greens will help you feel better.
Have you heard of this guy? www.fatsickandnearlydead.com I'm intrigued because I'm the same weight, and I have the same illness he does.
jointhereboot is his site IIRC. They guide you through the fast he did, but for a shorter time. The movie is very good IMO. It is on Netflix streaming. Both guys in the movie had that illness and are better now. FWIW
There are a lot of recipes on the web. Youtube has a lot. Look up this guy "liferegenerator" He's a bit interesting but has some decent recipes. His older videos have recipes, his newer ones are different.
Absolutely, parsley too. Yup, cuc's are great too! As are pears, great for the lungs. Sometimes beats, great for the pancreas. -Billy
I am interested in this topic also. We have a wheatgrass farm nearby and they deliver. Anybody have recommendations on which juicer to buy?
There are a lot of good juicers but I've been told that wheatgrass needs a special juicer that is slow and presses the grass more than spins or cuts it. I've seen wheatgrass made with a hand crank type. I would research juicing wheatgrass to be sure. For everything else I like the centrifugal juicers because they are fast I like the brevilles. The other types like the Omega and Champion are supposed to be good. The Norwalk Juicer is supposed to be the best and they come in different colors/finishes. I have been using a breville and a cheap Hamilton beach " bigmouth" they both work well enough for me.
They say Carrots are good for you, so here's one I like: 2 Carrots 1 Orange 1 Apple Egg Whites! Lots of Cinnamon I also put in a few spoonfulls of seeds, either sesame or flax seed. But look, there you go, a good meal. Oh, and a handfull of Spinach is another option. It makes a lot, like a quart, so go down to 1 Carrot if you want less. I also substitute the Carrot for a Grapefruit every other day. Cheers! Wes
I would stay clear of wheat grass. It is a high-allergen. There are better choices to get your green phytochemicals, such as those listed above: Kale, Spinach, Parsley, Cilantro. -Billy
I've made a few recipes so far and they aren't good. Maybe none of them will taste good to me. I'm trying to stick to 80% veggies. Of course making fruit juices taste good is easy. Veggies.. not so much, as least so far. GT
Give it some time. If you can stick to only having juice for a week or two your tastes will change drastically. If you just have green juice daily with your normal food you will get used to it and start to like it better. The stuff that is really good for you can have a bitter or bad taste, lemon and ginger is your friend. The acidity/sweet/spicy flavors from them really help with the taste.
Anyone have mood swings when they started? I tried to do the lemon cleanse and made it 3.5 days before getting panicky and irritable. My paralegal went and bought food and said I had to eat because I was going loony.
I didn't do the lemon cleanse. Is that where you make a lemonade with maple syrup in it? I don't see much nutrition in that. I have had no mood swings incorporating the juice of more leafy green vegetables and fruit. I have had more energy. I have not lost weight like many do but I feel better.
I just made (invented?) something that I really like. Am I cheating on the vegetable thing by using so many tomatoes? - 3 tomatoes - 1 stick celery - 1 carrot - pinch salt - Montreal Steak seasoning GT
Tomatoes have a lot of good stuff in them. I would try to get more celery in there, and some cilantro or spinach or parsley. Celery is really good though, just add some more. What is in the steak seasoning? Stay away from things with chemicals in it. Apple, Pear, and Celery juice tastes really good and gets you the benefits of celery without the strong taste of the other stuff. I use Fuji apples.
We also try to stay away from chemicals. Montreal steak seasoning - - Salt - Black Pepper - Red Pepper - Garlic - Sunflower oil - Paprika GT
You gotta get some green stuff in there my man!!! AND...way too much sodium in that concoction. -Billy
Ending the second day on juice only. I feel hungry because my stomach is so used to being full of food, but my energy levels are very high. It's still hard but I know it will be worth it. GT
