although a long shot, I would LOVE to see Kimi give Seb a real run for his money on the #2 spot in the WDC. From here on out full blown inter-team rivalry and put Seb in his place.

Would anyone here believe that the iceman is so populat that there is an on-line petition, which is quite succesful in numbers of signature, for Ferrari to keep Kimi for another year?

    https://www.express.co.uk/sport/f1-autosport/1014250/Kimi-Raikkonen-Ferrari-Charles-Leclerc-Sergio-Marchionne-F1-news

Formula One fans are desperate to keep Raikkonen in the sport - so much so, one fan has launched a petition on Change.org directed towards Ferrari and team principal Maurizio Arrivabene. And the petition has made huge progress, amassing over 10,000 signatures within just 15 hours after gaining social media traction. Posted by user Christy John, the petition plea reads:

Replacing Kimi Raikkonen just because of an existing deal made by the previous Ferrari head is not justifiable while Scuderia Ferrari's current Head and Sebastian Vettel need Kimi to keep the balance in the team. Kimi has also outperformed Vettel number of times proving he is back on form and his drive in Monza just adds more credibility to that.”

In a later update, John said: “There hasn't been any official statement yet, and as this was supposed to be the "day" that'll decide Kimi's fate in F1 and nothing has happened yet, there are possibilities of Ferrari reconsidering their decisions or all this just being a dirty rumour. Anyway let's not lose Hope and let's let our VOICES be heard. I know this petition may not have potential to affect Ferrari's internal affairs, but we can still let our voices be heard. Our PETITION is having about 6k signing in less than 6 hours, and that shows the vast majority of Formula 1 fans still follow Kimi Raikkonen like ever. Formula 1 losing Kimi in such an indecisive manner will affect the sport and certainly will affect the viewership of the sport.

Among the comments in the ‘reasons for signing’ section, John also insisted: “Firing Kimi for a new young driver when Kimi himself broke the fastest lap RECORD is just unjustified.

Another fan - Jane Mitchell - said: “Kimi Raikkonen has done more than enough this season to earn another year at least with Ferrari”.

The fact that there was no announcement yesterday - or at Monza - does make one wonder what is going on. Maybe the contract situation with Leclerc - in terms of him agreeing not to take the seat potentially (even assuming him having a contract in the first place is true - still has some potential to get ironed out and get Kimi in the seat.

There is I gather a meeting today in Maranello to formally confirm the new management so we may get official news about that AND a certain Monegasque driver later today...we shall see. They could also wait and do it in a press conference in Singapore...

Not that it could have any effect whatsoever on Ferrari's decision, but this is funny indeed. I'm under the impression that there are many russian and finnish names among the signataries...

You weren't sad in 2014 when F.A left, were you? You could of course launch a petition for his return...

Ferrari might have bagged the WDC last year if it still had Alonso. Would definitely have it in the bag this year.

As for Kimi, would almost rather keep him and ditch Vettel for LeClerc.

...but, with Alonso at Vettel's place, would the cars have been so competitive in 2017 and 2018? I'm not stating categorily they wouldn't, I just point out that F.A had a very good car in 2010 when he arrived at Ferrari, and then the cars went worse each year. So Vettel must be doing something right, at least for developping the cars.

I don't hide that I do like Kimi indeed, but, trying to be objective, he was really disappointing in 2014 and 2015; he started to be better in 2016 and then in 2017; had a good, solid year this season, with flahes of his past brillance and speed (in 2005, he was the fastest man alive on almost every track, but that was loooong ago). As much as I like the man, or what I suppose he is, the count of victories at Ferrari is still 13 for Vettel, Zero for Kimi. It's telling, unfortunately. Kimi should have bagged one or two in the last two years, he would have been in a better position to keep the seat. (even if "29,075 fans can't be wrong", numbers at 16:53...)
