We’ll see, he certainly has the edge of being a Ferrari driver, so far as I’m concerned, if I was him, I’d be able to retire once he leaves the team as you can’t drive for anyone bigger than Ferrari in F1, I bet there are a few young chargers extremely jealous of the opportunity he has, and gutted that he appears capable of making the most of it.

I hope Leclerc continues to exercise patience and maturity once the engine gets sorted. So far no Red Mist but we'll get a better idea of his racecraft when wheel to wheel racing for the podium. Hopefully no Mad Max impulsiveness.

Just read your own post: you say that it is premature to "jump the Leclerq bandwagon" because it is too early after 1 or 2 races but at the same time you have already made your own mind saying "he´s no Hambone"...how would you know that Leclerc is not even better than Lewis? Funny how you guys contradict yourself within one single post all the time...

Go back and read the first post. Its been 2 races and premature to compare Leclerc's rookie campaign to Hambone's. A more appropriate comparison can be made after more races and at the end of the season.

Unless of course you're on thr Leclerc bandwagon AND Nostradamus[emoji23]. Laughable.

Agreed, but why do you come to the conclusion that "Leclerc is no Hambone" unless you are the one with the glass bowl?

Because I and everyone else that watches F1 can judge the success of Hambone's rookie campaign its entirety. The same cant be said for Leclerc after 2 races and thus in my opinion its premature after 2 races to compare the two. My hope is Leclerc's rookie season is comparable. Time will tell.

So your comparison "Leclerc is no Hambone" is premature by your own definition ;)

Nope not premature at all. I see you didnt witness Hambone's rookie season and are a newcomer to the sport so let me break it down for you.

Hamilton set numerous records as he finished runner-up to Kimi Räikkönen by just one point, including those for the most consecutive podium finishes from debut (9), the joint most wins in a debut season (4) and the most points in a debut season (109).

Has Leclerc accomplished that at this point?

    Didnt think so.

LeClerc didn't start out his rookie F1 season in a front-running team with a car capable of winning races.

    All the best,
    Andrew.

Search function will be his friend, Pete. The points made about Elton have been done many times, and proven to be over-egged every time. Elton’s fans just can’t allow themselves to admit he hasn’t won every single championship since he came into f1, and every single race. In both, clearly the ones he didn’t win don’t count at all, and so the honorary winner/champion was clearly Elton, surely we must all realise that. :)

As Andrew pointed out, Leclerc's F1 rookie season was with Sauber a mid field team. Hamilton's rookie season was with McLaren a championship contender. You have been comparing Hamilton's first season with Leclerc's second(now 2 races old).

He might, as we go along it's increasingly becoming easier to win more races and championships, because teams tend to have longer periods of dominace in the sport. On the other hand, winning more race or titles is not a requirement to be a better driver, the gentleman we both use as an avatar won a lot less yet could run rings around Elton and company. From what i have seen so far, both in lower formulas and in f.1, Charles looks to me like a more talented driver than Elton at the same stage of their carreers.

You think Leclerc would have beat Alonso as teammate last year? The rookie is really good, we will never know

I suspect in his first year, LeClerc would have had the class to learn at the knee of the master, challenge when it was clear and safe to do so, but most importantly, watch and learn how to approach a GP weekend. I doubt very much he’d have been banging wheels and begging the team for an advantage, and the management would not have succumbed to pressure to make the novice into the teams number one supported driver.

I would hope he not be like that. I would hope that he'd do the opposite, come in with the confidence and courage that i'm the best driver, no matter who my team mate is, i can beat him, bang wheels. Make the team principle notice your talent and put you #1. That's what Lewis did

And you don't think that those were unique circumstances with Lewis being the protege of the team boss for years knowing he has Ron behind him from the start? If Lewis would have pulled this stunt at any other team I guess he would have fallen on his nose... don't forget those antics have cost McLaren both titles. If anything this season was a blue print how it is NOT be done, both by the drivers and the management!!!

And it got them nowhere, McLaren lost £100million as they pissed Alonso off and he turned rat on them, and team harmony was destroyed. The same s when he was banging wheels with Rosberg, moral was nowhere to be seen and it was only the fact the Mercedes was so far ahead of the rest that it didn’t cost them titles and championships. Elton was prick in 2007, and still is now, it’s certainly not the way Charles needs to be and not the way ferrari want it

The irony. You claim the way Hamilton did it is not the way to do it, yet when I look at Hamilton’s career all I see is success. Indeed he is the second most successful driver in history. Perhaps Leclerc does not need to pay any kind of attention to this type of advice. In any case these a 4 vastly different individuals whose situations can not be compared.

True, he's carreer is a success, yet, in order to achieve this, he was instrumental in destroying the second greatest team in f.1.....so, certainly not the way to do things....a true great driver like Lauda, Michael, Stewart, forged success for them and for the teams they represented...that's how a GOAT does it.

No, Elton lucked into what he’s done, and he made hard work of it when he got beaten regularly by Rosberg..... too funny. Charles is a classy driver, and I suspect he will forge a much cleaner path to championships and eclipse your little friend, and to whit, he drives for Ferrari, the greatest name in F1, something Elton will never be able to do, and as he admitted, he’s never been wanted by them either hehehehehehe
