That looked more like a psyop.

Mayweather can get hit as well, and this is the real thing.

That's what the promoters are doing.

You're saying that McGregor is getting a $100+ million dollar payday just for being able to talk trash ? That would be quite an accomplishment itself.

I have no bones to pick against Ward. He's a talented guy. Most of the blame should be put on the referee Tony Weeks for allowing it. Apparently he later admitted that after the replays he made a mistake. Too late. The fact is Ward was ahead on the cards 2-1 at the stoppage but still it could have gone either way if Kovalev was allowed to continue.

    Totally agree.

The correct call at the point a which he erroneously stopped the fight, should have been a 5-minute time-out in favor of Kovalev.

The influence of the 3rd man in the ring can be decisive, so I also think under these circumstances the governing body should temporarily sanction or at the very least fine Weeks to set a proper precedent for the future.

I actually like Tony Weeks, always thought he was a very good referee until this fight.

I had the fight 5 rounds to Kovalev, 2 rounds to Ward.

I will watch the fight again, but I don't see how Ward was winning the fight on two of the judges score cards.

Bitter Berto, I gotcha ;). That's your source.

"You're saying that McGregor is getting a $100+ million dollar payday just for being able to talk trash ? That would be quite an accomplishment itself"

Regarding your last comment^^^, I doubt McGregor made more that $2MM EVER for 1 fight. Now all of the sudden cause of his "accomplishments", he will be making $100MM +?
Comm'on, Gotta have a better build up than that!

Chaos Theory is my source. Berto is just putting it into layman's terms.

And if you've followed this for the past many months, you would know that McGregor has been bargaining for some time. You can't deny his skill at the bargaining table !

I've watched EVERY UFC since 1993. HUGE boxing fan and a self proclaimed boxing historian (in an amateur way).
I TOTALLY get what your saying. When 2 people get in the ring, ANYTHING can happen.
I just like to defend boxing in a boxing ring and MMA fighters in the cage. That's all.
I do feel FM is FAR superior than CM will be. I feel distance and footwork will hurt CM. But Who knows???? I think FM will represent boxing well this day.

The exponential increase in purse money that CM will be receiving all has to do with the man he has agreed to fight, and, the draw that this so-called Boxing vs MMA matchup is perceived to be by the promoters.

Berto did sum it up fairly well, and CM did well negotiating over $100m, that said, he conceded fight style by accepting the use of Boxing rules.

I agree with this in general, but, I also think from an entertainment perspective this will be exciting. Also, MMA has taken away a huge part of Boxing's fan-base and interest, and some see this as an opportunity to see this reversed to some extent. If FM wins, it keeps a dying sport relevant.

essentially that's what this is combined with his high profile in ufc and the delusion from ufc fan boys who don't realize how noncompetitive this is.

I've always posted my bets in this thread, never lost one :)

Anything can happen in life, it's all about probability and this has little to zero chance imo

    The last few £10k bets were on canelo/kahn brook/ggg harrison/wilder harrison/haye.
All had good value in the favorite and were predictably non-competitive.

I occasionally bet smaller amounts to spice up games or if I'm attending a fight in person I'll bet more but for these fights I see them similar to the stock market, a calculated risk.

Good on you mate, I don't have the balls to bet a large amount like that. :D

But I reckon you're on the money with this one, FM is just too good.

Anyone watching the Manny Pacquiao VS Jeff Horn fight tomorrow?

Fight is here in Brisbane, Australia and I think it's been televised live over in the US for free via ESPN.

I think it will be a shut-out by Manny, but we will see what happens.

I saw Pacquiao vs Marquez sitting @ ringside on November 12th, 2011, at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, and even back then, I thought he was no longer the dominant explosive force he once was. My impression watching his subsequent fights, including this one, is that his best days are behind him.

That said, ESPN scored this fight 117-111 in favor of Pacquiao, and the boxing judges-scoring formula that seems to generate controversy these days needs to be addressed.

Still, Horn surprised many people, particularly Pacquiao I think.

Horn fought a good, aggressive fight, but he didn't win. That decision was a travesty.

    Agreed about Pacman, though.
