Errol Spence Jr cleaned up Carlos Ocampo today. Spence Jr successfully defended his IBF Welterweight title today. He needs to hurry up and fight Terence Crawford so Crawford can take that title from him. Then I want to watch Crawford finish off Keith Thurman to unify the Welterweight division.
Ocampo Hasn't fought a top 20 opponent and he ends up #3 IBF. Go figure... I called it in the 3rd round. OK so I was off a few rounds. I'd rather see Spence dethrone Thurman, Have Crawford fight 1 or 2 more 147lbs. (the winner of Garcia vs Porter) Then have a HUGE showdown: Spence vs Crawford. Kinda like a modern day Leonard vs Hearns, for the undisputed 147 King.
Yesterday Manny P defeated Lucas Matthysse via TKO in the 7th round to win the WBA "regular"Welterweight title. 60th pro fight, first KO in 9 years! https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/boxing/2018/07/14/manny-pacquiao-tko-win-lucas-matthysse/785883002/
Mikey Garcia easily beat Robert Easter to unify the Lightweight division today. After the fight, Mikey said he wants to go up 12lbs into the Welterweight division and fight Errol Spence Jr for his IBF World Title. I think Mikey might have a VERY tough night ahead of him if that fight goes ahead. Errol Spence Jr is one of the best out there. Hopefully that fight takes place later this year. https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/lets-talk-about-boxing.225232/page-296
Kinda sounds like the Duran vs Leonard June 1980 match up. That being said, Mikey would have no chance vs Spence.
On another note: Kovelav moved RIGHT NEXT DOOR to my sister (a wall separating the 2 properties). After Aug. 4th (Fight night) guess who will be coming over for a BBQ? OH YEA!!!!!
WHAT!!! That's awesome man!! Tell Krusher I said hello. Ask him if he will sign a pair of boxing gloves for me. If he won't, tell him I will come over there and towel him up.
On that note, Watch the first 10 seconds of this Kovalev training video. Those summersalt drills are INSANE!!!!! Great for equilibrium balance (in case he gets knocked down).
Dedication!! These guys are tough man. I remember watching a training video from FM Jr many years ago. I got tired watching him do it.
Berto-Alexander was terrible. Neither of them should continue to box. Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
I knew Alvarez was no slouch but was surprised that he knocked out Kovalev. I think Sergei might have to hang them up after this one.
Ok, now what do I talk to Kovalev about. Hey, look on the bright side, he may be a bit more humble when we meet. Props to Alvarez, he turned it UP!° Looking forward to seeing him next time.
What do you talk to him about?? Why..............his loss of course. Nah, what a shame!!!!! Alvarez definitely showed up to fight didn't he! Hope the Krusher comes back (again) as I still think he has a few good fights left in him.
Kovalev looked like he could not go the distance, he looked exhausted going in to 7. He'll never be the same again, so I don't see a comeback to the imposing figure he was before this, but I have always liked his fights.
I agree, I wonder if he underestimated him and didn't train as hard as he should have? All great fighters have at least one great fight left in them, I haven't seen that from Kovalev yet. He needs the right opponent to give us one last great performance and I am sure he will come back again looking to win his titles back and hopefully he gives us one last great fight, win, lose or draw before retiring. Just like Klitschko's performance against AJ. That was sensational.
