Main event is about to start. I hope Loma can pull it off. He’s definitely skilled and crafty enough to not get clinched all fight as George did against Haney. I hope he can work the angles and crack Haney.
I thought Loma won the fight… 116-112 is an egregious scorecard. 115-113 is fine. Between this and the Rolly fiasco last weekend, boxing has yet again left a serious sour taste in my mouth.
WTF! Lopez retiring from boxing after Taylor fight? Is he nuts? @ 25, I hope he has a good plan for his future. I'd hate to see him come back in a few years because of money issues. It seems mentally he had checked out before. https://www.mmafighting.com/2023/6/12/23758577/teofimo-lopez-announces-retirement-from-boxing-after-shutout-win-over-josh-taylor
Yep, I thought Loma won the fight also. 116-112 is crazy whichever side you took. Would love to see a rematch, but sounds like it won't happen.
You guys don't know? Really?? It's all about $$$ - people 'retire' until someone throws a HUGE bone at them, just like Mayweather vs McGregor or Paul - $$$ decides if it happens or not.
I think i've given up on AJ. Joshua VS Whyte...............again. AJ has gone backwards big time over the last 2-3 years, especially with back to back losses to Usyk, while Whyte has definitely improved over the last 5+ years since his loss to AJ back in 2015. (time flies btw) Wouldn't be surprised if Whyte beats AJ this time. Image Unavailable, Please Login
And now we have this crap coming up in October. Fury VS Ngannou. Fury was given special permission by the WBC to fight Ngannou in Saudi Arabia in a non-title fight. First I have heard of Ngannou, he's an ex- UFC Heavyweight Champion. Easy fight for Fury and a massive pay-day for both fighters. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Last but not least, this I am a little more excited for. Uysk VS Dubois. Fighting in Poland on the 26th of August, Dubois is the mandatory challenger with the WBA 'Super' Heavyweight title on the line. I have a feeling Uysk will be too slippery for the bigger/slower Dubois, so I think Uysk will do it easy on points. Just like how he out classed AJ...........twice. But one punch from Dubois could end it of course, so it's going to be good I reckon. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I have seen off-and-on there are pundits that say Bud Crawford can or will lose his next fight, in your opinions is that true? I've only seen him fight twice, on TV, and I just wasn't that impressed, not sure how he got to be undefeated.
Nice to hear from you mate. I actually think TC will beat Spence Jr. Should be the fight of the year I reckon, both are amazing fighters but I think Bud has the experience, ring IQ and will take the win on points on an excellent chess-match style of fight. He has the stopping power, has the best switch from orthodox to southpaw in the game and is one of the best finishers in the business. Here are some of Crawford's highlight reels.
I thought this fight was this weekend, but it was on last night and Inoue just became a 4x weight division World Champion by beating the undefeated Stephen Fulton in a great fight. Naoya Inoue beats Stephen Fulton to become four-division world champion | Boxing | The Guardian
I'm just so F***en excited about this fight. In my opinion, the significance of this fight compares to Leonard vs Hearns I. I wish it happened 2-3 years ago, but atleast we get it when both are still in their prime. It can easily go either way. I see Crawford winning in the late rounds. Image Unavailable, Please Login
You picked it mate!! What an absolute masterclass TC put on for the boxing world. There was nothing Spence could do to stop the beating he took and I just read online that Spence has activated his rematch clause. Which is a shame as the result will be the same in the rematch. Crawford is definitely the P4P king and has been for a years now IMO. What a fight!! Image Unavailable, Please Login
Yeah, I read the loser decides if there is a rematch, the winner decides what weight class. Spence wants 154, I'm doubting TC goes above 145? (and it's TC's choice)
Just read that today also, we will see what happens. I also doubt TC will fight him at 154, but you never know.
And now the Mayor here wants to have a celebration/parade for TC, she's aiming directly at a certain segment of voters, because she didn't know who TC was before this past weekend....
'Not going there' in any detail, I'm just stating what I know, I know the Mayor, and I have lived here for 50 years. I know who runs this town, what they do, and why. Bud is not in the news here at all - until a fight night. But if he played football for NU, he'd be featured every day of the week.
