Yikes, blast them for being Ferrari zealots when you call tying your teammate on points "Handily beating a 2xWDC winning driver". Who's the zealot, then?
Oh yeah I forgot how easy it is to the current 2xWDC as your team mate in your rookie year?!?! OBTW according to the FIA Formula 1 standings for 2007 he beat the 2xWDC Alonso and he did it in the same car! Results not excuses...
Facts are Facts and you can't change them and that why they are called Facts Standing from Formula.com Pos Driver Nationality Team Points 1 Kimi Räikkönen Finnish Ferrari 110 2 Lewis Hamilton British McLaren-Mercedes 109 3 Fernando Alonso Spanish McLaren-Mercedes 109 No matter how you would like to change it Hamilton beat Alonso... FACT
Everyone else on the grid did not have the luxury of a great car right from the start. Even MS had to start in a Jordan.
He had an awesome car and a great team behind him. He beat Alonso at the beginning of the year which was spectacular to be sure. From mid season on Alonso was the better driver and the results show that. Alonso got off to a slow start with a new team. In the end it was tied and the tie break went to Hammy. He won but it's not like he blew him off the road either.
Rookie vs 2xWDC... want to say that again? Hamilton won the WDC for 2008 where was Kovi??? Oh just in case you can't figure it out Pos Driver Nationality Team Points 1 Lewis Hamilton British McLaren-Mercedes 98 2 Felipe Massa Brazilian Ferrari 97 3 Kimi Räikkönen Finnish Ferrari 75 4 Robert Kubica Polish BMW Sauber 75 5 Fernando Alonso Spanish Renault 61 6 Nick Heidfeld German BMW Sauber 60 7 Heikki Kovalainen Finnish McLaren-Mercedes 53
All this I agree, as the car is 95% of the results in F1. But this I cannot agree with. Button lacks the killer instinct ... too smooth. Pete
A rookie that had been with the team and groomed for this since he was 13 years old and received training no one else in history had. I'm clearly not as impressed with his first season as you are. He SHOULD have done well with all that in his favor. Last year he was quite up and down but still won the title. Great from him and congratulations. We'll see what the kid's really made of this year that he doesn't have a top two car. Easy enough to understand?
Not irrelevant at all. Everyone seems to base their assessment of LH's talent because of his first season. I wonder how MS or Senna or even Vettel or Button had done were they in the best car in the field as a rookie. It's a fair question.
Yea i wonder how they would have done to. Especially when there team mate was the current world champion....in the same car Get over it.
That's the point I'm making and have been making from the start. He's brilliant now but not great yet.
