just watched topgear speed week comparison test online and they had to apologize for not having one in test because seems lotus still working out some kinks. even if that test was done during summer, that is a bad sign for emira. why is it so hard to get this car to market when its basically a rebodied evora with new interior. same chassis and drivetrain shouldnt be so hard.

topgear also said artura not ready test either which more understandable as its all new tech for mclaren. but also a very bad sign for the 1st customers. big difference from ferrari who brought out sf90 and 296 without a hitch.

Lotus did also have to build a factory and hire and train new employees... That being said I likely will not see my Emira until Q3 '23. 6-8 months later than I was expecting.

My dealer in Germany said he had several coming in this year, and they offered me the option of 2 that were unallocated but already spec'd for this year. Might still be available for anyone in Europe.

I just bought an Evora and was really debating between the two cars. At the end of the day I wanted 2+2 to squeeze (literally) the kids in the back in a pinch, so I decided on the Evora over the Emira; however, the Emira is a really gorgeous looking car and I think Lotus did an amazing job adding in the modern features. If they had a backseat +2 option I wouldve gotten it.

I had already decided on the Evora by the time their demo car arrived, but I did sit in it and go through the interior in the parking lot. The fit and finish are all several notches nicer, bringing it in-line with a modern euro vehicle, radio/entertainment are actually integrated instead of looking like an aftermarket Alpine, seats were comfortable with nice bolstering, the red lambo style ignition switch is fun. It's a really sharp looking car from all angles. The two biggest downsides I can think of are that they still don't have storage in the "frunk"/bonnet area, and it really could use a bump in HP; it does enough to separate itself from the Alpine A110, but needs a bit more HP to sway buyers from the Porsche GT4/GTS/GT3 market that I think they're targetting ("entry level exotics" territory)

It'll be fun to see how they use the AMG over these next few years - they've done an fantastic job making the Toyota V6 sound exotic and racecar-like (EU spec cars don't have the secondary cat, so it's very loud from the factory with valves open, in a good way!), but I'll be curious if they make a few higher HP trims with the AMG that push 500+HP. And if they don't, then we know that Komotec/Jubu/Hethel will dig into working with other AMG aftermarket tuners.

My Emira will be delivered sometime in 2023--great buy for the price. I am sure that the HP on the Toyota V6 can be increased with a tune and other goodies. It is bulletproof.

Received email today, I emailed back a request to refund my deposit:

I would like to start by saying, the Galpin Lotus team appreciates your loyalty, patience and understanding as we navigate the challenges of getting Emira delivered to all of our customers. The Emira will certainly be worth the wait.

Lotus Cars USA announced supply chain and parts availability challenges for the production of your new Emira months ago.We are aware of this situation and are in constant contact with the team at Lotus Cars USA. While there has not been an official update we hope production for Emira First Edition will start in January of 2023. There are no other production updates from Lotus Cars USA at this time.

Lotus announced a fleet of cars for a dynamic tour. At this time, there is no official schedule yet of when it will be arriving at Galpin but as soon as we know we will communicate to you. We are excited to have you all behind the wheel of an Emira as soon as possible.

The Galpin Team wanted to share with you a video that was posted by Harry's Garage YouTube channel that we really enjoyed:

We are just as excited as you are to have your Emira here at Galpin and we cannot wait to see you take delivery. As an Emira depositor, you’ll be the first one to know additional details as the situation becomes clear. Please do not hesitate to reach me or your product specialist with any questions.

    Sincerely,

    Ivan Merino

Now they are just teasing me:

Mark - I am happy to do so. I should let you know you are one of our earliest depositors and you would certainly get a car Q2 of 2023. If you take yourself out of the line the wait for one would be a couple of years. Let me know if you would like to process the refund.

I'm curious about delivery times. While my dealer hasn't promised anything (of course) they have hinted that I'm Q2 2023. Which is fine, if they deliver. Any later than that and I may have to bail.

They just received their production demos and have scheduled drives, unfortunately I'm out of the country and won't be able to attend. Sigh.

Video is pretty good... actually... I should not have watched it... made me more excited for the car.
realistically, I'm looking at 12 months.
I still contend for what it is, and the price, it will be the best bang for the buck.
however, I'm not getting a FE, and I'm sure they will up the price. How much? who knows...
If it is a lot more... (say $125K), then I'm out.

Innovative thinker... why not just wait? (grant it... I'm an impatient SOB)
could always flip it... you can guarantee you'll make 20%!

Because this is the third time they have moved the needle, in general when that happens I’m out. Too many bad experiences when this has happened in the past. Granted not during these times, nor car related, but it is still engrained in me.

The demo cars are making the rounds now in Canada and the US. I test drove it on Friday at Oakville, Ontario.

That is a really nice car! It looks beautiful, the fit and finish, even the interior, is really top notch. And it is a hoot to drive! It certainly has enough power to have fun, the handling and steering feel is typical Lotus, which is perfection. Sounds very nice too, especially in sport mode. There are a lot of reviews now on Lotus forums from people testing them if you want to read more about them. Most give it an 8 or 9 out of 10. If you didn't know what it was you would think McLaren, maybe Ferrari.

Wasn't crazy about the yellow, but everything else..........they nailed it!

I was told mine will show up......sometime.....maybe. The Canadian dealers don't know how many cars they are getting, when they will start getting them, won't tell me what number I am on their deposit list, what day of the week it is....

The car is great, the info from Lotus.......non-existent.

I got to drive it in Chicago today. A fun car for the cash and far more civilized than the Elise. I’m looking forward to next year.

spent some time reading 2 of the Lotus forums...
    seems pretty grim.
Little to no info about US deliveries... reports of troubles with Euro / UK cars....
    and the wait goes on....
I was really hoping Lotus would get it together.

Troubles with quality or expected delivery timetables?
As I've been hearing just about pushed back delivery dates from my dealer but the reviews have heightened my expectations.

Both. And the former is likely adding to the latter.

I have an Emira on order that would be arriving in the first couple months of US deliveries. Based on how things have been going with the car lately though, if my Emira actually arrived in Mar-Apr like it is "supposed to", I doubt I'd take delivery and would instead take an allocation much further back. Lotus needs to get things sorted out first IMO.

I don't believe for a second that the Emira will make the US delivery dates Lotus last promised though. I'd think they'd slip at least 3 months, but if they said longer it wouldn't surprise me and frankly I'd be hoping for that. If Lotus is going to be delivering glitchy cars to its customers like they appear to be doing now, it's best they contain it to the UK where service and diagnosis can be close to the factory. It could be a nightmare having an early Emira in the US and being out of sight and out of mind at a company that's already known for poor customer service, horrible communication, and long waits for parts.

Hopefully they understand the American consumer and our greater demand for a quality product even at the expense of some delivery delays.
    I'm certainly in that camp.
