Alex, I think you have summed up the situation very accurately. IMHO, I would rather buy a car from somone on this list (so I know exactly how it's been treated) than from a dealer where the car is totally anonymous and an unknown entity. Cheers, MARK
Hi Malfark, I'll see when I get there. Buying a car from someone on this site could be perfect, but it will be a matter of right car at the right time. If no one here is selling/replacing his car (or hers? are there women with a Ferrari here???) at the moment I'm looking for one, I'll have to search somewhere else. I know that I will have to be careful and patiened in my quest in that case. By the way, nice green Mondial one of your friends (Ulli?) is selling Greets, Alex.
we have 2 Mondials here: 1 x BLACK for sale from our friend ULI, Germany at mobile.de 1 x GREEN (a.k.a. The Green Monster) not for sale from our friend Trevi, Switzerland ....and sure a couple more Wolfarossa FORZA FERRARI
Goodmornig to all of you !!! @ Alex : Yes, I went looking at the 2 308's in The Engine Room. They have a carb and a QV. The latter is a US-model so I better keep my hands off because there's no history or whatsoever on this particular car. The carb is a solid, pretty decent example but for me it's too old and too complicated to work on. Another important fact is that the carb's and the first injections drive on leaded petrol. It's only when Ferrari started with the 4 valves that unleaded petrol came in. @ Ton : Yes, it's the same 308 I told you about last week. It's a '84, 3 owner GTB Quattrovalvole with 69.000 km. Dark grey/ black metallic with tan Conolly leather. Hard car. Next week I gonna look at it in detail and make a testdrive BTW, if any of you know another 308 for sale in Belgium please let me know. All the information is more than welcome!! Thanks, Joren REMANS
Joren, I think that you already have seen all the 308's that are for sale! It is definitely not easy to find a good one. Good luck with the QV!! I hope that it is a good one. Make a long testdrive. Check out all the gears! Listen carefully for rattles or other sounds. check oil pressure and water temp. Does the clutch feel solid? Look near the wheels and doors for rust (especially repainted rust!). And.... look at the interior! Does it correspond with the milage that is presented? Also look at the carter. Is it dry? Is the engine steamed clean recently? If yes, why? Let me know what you think of the car. Ton
Right! I've seen pictures of both cars, but I've mixed them up in my reply last night. I meant the black one in my comment, but of course, they both look nice cars Greets, Alex.
Hi Joren, I think I've seen your potential new car on autoscout24. You've probably already seen the other 3 Belgian 308's on that site too?? Greets, Alex.
Hi Alex, no problem and still 95 months, 2.830 days and 67920 hours time to find the right decission;-) Wolfarossa FORZA FERRARI
Aaaaah, It seems sooooooo loooooooong when you write it that way! And hey, we're talking 'bout a maximum deadline here!!! Probably I'll buy one a lot sooner! Ton, I wrote in my profile I want a Ferrari BEFORE I'm 3.5. (age/engine capacity, got it? ) But that's still 95 months away. Seems endless. But I would rather wait 'till I can find, buy and maintain the "perfect" F355, then take the risk to buy a "bad" 308 or Mondial now that could smash my future 355 plans. If I notice I can't reach the total budget for one of those (355) in time; I'll buy another type instead (328?, 348?, Mondial?,...). Hey, why doesn't one of you buy a F355 NOW, enjoy and maintain it well a few years, and I will be the one who buys it from you when you're upgrading! lol (could of course count for a 328 or 348 too) I also have to keep in mind, that me and my girlfriend are thinking 'bout having a kid, I'll need a new daily driver Alfa and a bigger house soon (with 2 garages ). How old where you guys when you bought your first Ferrari? And do you think it's compatible with a kid? Greets, Alex.
I bought my first Ferrari 2 weeks after I turned 36. We also have a little boy and he loves the Ferrari. But sadly he has to wait a couple of years before he can join me in the Fcar. In my opinion the Ferrari does not have to be the family car. As long as you have a good family car you can be a little bit selfish with the Ferrari. Even when you have a kid it remains YOUR car! Don't forget to live YOUR dream!! Ton
Hi Ton, The Ferrari will certainly not be the family car because I have to do a lot of km to reach my work. Therefor I need a economic (but Italian) car, a Ferrari would be to expensive for those daily distances to the hell of Brussels. The F-car will be a funcar for weekends, trips and sunny days, like most people use it I guess? When I get that far, I'm even considering to take insurance for the car only from April to October, if that is possible in Belgium. I don't think I will take the risk to drive it in winter and that way I could save a little to drive more in spring and summer That will be looooong winters! I won't hesitate to go for a drive alone sometimes

Just a little out of context! It's the hidden mind of a man, I guess But seriously/just to make sure, I'm happy with my girlfriend, altough she hasn't got a Ferrari. Greets, Alex.
Alex, You can no longer have a summer registration in Belgium. The car is registred the whole year around. But that is fun too. It is absolutely fantastic to take your shiny baby out on a nice sunny winterday. She needs to stretch her legs every now and then. Ton
Hi Alex, Jokes aside, there are some female F-Chat members. In fact there's a new lady member on the UK page who drives a 512TR Cheers, MARK
Hi Ton, I did know the summer-only registration wasn't possible anymore in Belgium. But I was thinking about the insurance. Is that still possible? Maybe the insurance is cheaper if the company knows you don't drive the Ferrari in winter? I don't know about that. But then again, you're right, such a car needs a bit of joy from time to time instead of being in a garage for a few months. But...how many nice sunny winterdays have we got here in Belgium? Not too many Greets, Alex.
In Belgium you cannot have a registration without insurance. So that means that you have to be insured the whole year. Ton
Ok, I wasn't aware of that. No problem, it will be insured 12months a year then Unfortanely there's still no solution or insurance for the bad winterweather in Belgium! No guarantee for nice sunny days. Greets, Alex.
Hey dude, How much do you pay to hire these cars? I had a look on there website, but could not quite figure it out... Thanks Ade
