You may be right. Didn't the VFR and Nija come out about the same time? I thought it was 1986, perhaps 1984?

I've heard rumors that Coleman was involved with George Peppard's daughter and Peppard refused to work with Coleman. Or maybe it was Peppard himself, I don't remember.

The 80's was pretty much the last decade that had memorable music. Themes. Cool chorus. Etc.

The 90's jumped into rap, where grunting sounds and yelling were considered art. As was playing a record tempoarrily backwards. Think Beastie Boys, Run DMC, etc.

Then the 90's got worse. Now you didn't even have to sing lyrics, just "rap" them out. And if the lyrics involved stealing, b*tch slapping, ho's, sucide, and shooting cops - you were all good. There were some alternative artists that were fine, but that was not the mainstream.

Now, who can sing the words right now to their favorite 90's rap song? Does thi stuff really stick in your neurons?

Now, sing "Like a Virgin" or "Thriller" etc...

What's the big deal about her latest song? It's a direct sample from ABBA's old song titled "Gimme Gimme Gimme". How much talent does it take to pay a record company for an old song and dub in some new lyrics?

I loved the 80's, great music and TV. Howard Jones, Duran Duran, Huey Lewis and the News, INXS, some good punk stuff, Billy Idol (who turned 50 today, egads), Dallas, Miami Vice, Magnum PI, and some great football during those years.

Ahh yes the 80's. Was a studio musician living in Miami FL. Lessee, we had Miami Vice filming on the streets, Bolivian Marching Powder unstepped upon...

And yes of course the music. Simmons drums (and yes, Synare, but the Synare was more a 70's disco thing). The Linn Drum machine too.

Ft. Lauderdale Spring Break... Summers on the Beach, the Elbo Room... Seeing Flock of Seagulls, Pat Benetar, Spyro Gyra... all for free ON THE BEACH during spring break! Ahh yes, good teen years...

Was back there a few years ago, the place is lame now. But oh the memories...

The radio stations are playing that single a lot. Like it's something new. Just load up the old ABBA song and you will hear the exact same audio from 20 years ago.

    100%. A true 1980's master!

Oops, just thought of dundgeons and dragons...:).

I still think fondly of my commodore 128. Leading edge technology back then. Everytime I turned it off I had to re-enter any program I wanted to use! Then again, most programs were 100 lines of code, if that!

Then I bought "the cord." Which I hooked up to my boom bos so I could save programs on tape. That didn't work so well. Then I got the disk drive with the 5.25 floppy. WooHoo!!!

Got a modem too, 1200bps. Actually watched the screen as each and every bit was downloaded. Remember downloading pictures made with ascII symbols!!! Weeeeee!!!

Then came the mac plus. God, I loved that computer. Simple, beautiful, mouse, black and white screen. If apple played its card right it would have ruled the market... All of the schools IBM's were crashing on a daily basis, but not my little mac....

I remember Wordperfect...which I thought was the coolest. I remember the first "portable" computers. All 80 lbs of it... :)

    I rememeber...

I remember the 80s. I was sitting about 6 feet from where I am now. Only there was no work computer and no internet. But there was an old Macintosh with a video game called Staroids, an Asteroids rip off. Fun.

Yeah, there is some overlap of my nostalgic recall :).

Though Smokey and the bandit did do movies through the 80's. Mork and Mindy reruns were in the eighties. And dirty harry made some movies in the eighties too....

Loved the breakfast club. I seem to recall I had to sneak into that movie because it was R-rated? Remember sneaking into movie theaters!!! Ohh, fun. Sometimes I would pay for 1 movie and see three, just hopping theaters... What a great way to kill youth... ;)

Just got a phone call from Anna Nicole's latest husband. He doesn't have a computer so he wanted me to let everybody know that he does remember the 1880s very well.
