I've seen some older postings about this but i figured i would ask again in 2023. Is there anyway to get a map update for the 458? I have a late production 2015 and i think the maps are from 2010!

    Thank you!

If the navigation system on the 458 is as bad as the models that followed, don’t waste your time. “The navigation system in your smartphone is a gazillion times better” (Harry of Harry’s Garage).

I may be one of the few who disagree. Sure it’s a dated UI and a small display but it works well for me and I prefer it over using the phone. I’m missing a current map and live traffic (though it appears my SiriusXM subscription provided this at one time.

I prefer an integrated nav over trying to use my phone since I primarily want the moving map not voice instructions. So... is there a way to get map updates?

I’m another one who uses the integrated Nav map in my ‘15 Italia regularly. Sure it’s not the latest and greatest, but it works for me.

Address inputs are simple if you use the voice recognition program, so you don’t have to go through all of the menus for destinations.

FWIW, I looked into upgrading/updating the map info a few years ago and was told by the dealer that there are no updates available.

    Cheers!

I was told the same thing but in this age of everyone hacking everything how could a map update not be possible!

I have taken delivery on a 2023 296GTB. The navigation system is abominable. Unlike most cars, when you start the car it needs 90 seconds or so to figure out where the car is. Then when you use voice and say "directions to Club X" its response is "starting navigation." After a several seconds it asks where would you like to go. When you repeat the location it gives choices you never named.
Do others have the same issue. Has Ferrari provided a download update? TIA

If anyone can provide an update it would likely come out of China. I seem them posting upgrades like backup cameras and such that will work with the right TFT on this 458 Facebook group I am in. Of course, they would probably have to have the car to code that. If they could ever figure out a way to code the car remotely (internet via the OBD port), then some entrepreneurs over there could make a killing.

I think it would be rather easy to code over the internet by giving them access to a laptop connected to the ODB port.

The nav in my 22 F8 is simply the worst system I’ve ever experienced. Entering a destination is a time consuming exercise in frustration, the nav prompts are late, the audio unintelligible, the screen virtually impossible to see and the routing circuitous. I’ll quote Harry of Harry’s Garage again ‘use your smart phone, it’s a gazillion times better”. And don’t even get me started on voice prompted phone calling.

My 24 G63 is pretty awful also! I guess the cooler the car, the worse the tech?

I would think so as well, I just don't know how to code. But for example, if they could remotely install the proxy file necessary to activate the cruise control, they could charge a couple hundred bucks and US customers would be glad to pay. Same thing for the NVO board LED activation though there is a board on Aliexpress that comes pre-programmed.

The most beneficial feature of CarPlay for me is the use of maps. As others have said, manufacturers default maps are terrible! With the exception of my 2021 BMW M4, I’ve never used one that worked, and although that had great features like built in speed camera notifications, it was a paid feature after so many months (go figure).

Apple/Google/waze with CarPlay reigns supreme. My GT4 maps suck

I had Carplay installed in the 458 along with jammers, detectors and F/R cameras. I use Waze and can get realtime satellite radio streaming while using Waze. It shows on the right TFt screen. It will bluetooth to the phone for all functions including voice control, phone calls, Siri, Maps. navigation etc. Pretty cool when it works.

Some very slick upgrades. What exactly was he saying about the doors and fenders? Did you have some sort of sound deadening added to reduce noise? It wasn't quite clear from the video.

Never even started up the Navi in my Speciale.

Would be fantastic to get rid of the massive weight ~5kg but dash and hands free are connected to it.
