    The name starts with art.

Surely that would give it away??

De Groot conversion and work to bring a car up to perfection is not cheap.

With my exhaust, extras and transport I am in for circa $80k

Having stated this. I truly believe it to be one of the nicest 575’s ever made.

I am sorry to demur, but this car just looks fake. The gearlever is too long and too shiny. The gate plate thing is the wrong shape. There's no horse on the gate. What other corners did they cut? You can buy a gated 575 for more, a F1 575 for much less, a gated 550 for less. That's not to denigrate someone who wants a gated experience in a 575, as a gated 575 owner, it's the most wonderful thing. But aftermarket modded Ferraris are generally worth less than the real thing, I don't like the fact that this is pretending to be real.

The real gated 575 is in neutral. Spot the difference!

I haven't checked in on the 550 market in years...

What is the current market for a driver quality 550 with 20-40k miles?

(not sure if colors or options matter much or not?)

    Thanks.

This video from Normal Guy Supercar in his Eag conversion shows the action and the sound of the converted 575. It feels wrong, too loose, in the same way you get a different haptic feedback from a real Rolex and a not Rolex. And it sounds wrong, tinny.

I'm no mechanic but if they can't be bothered to machine the stick to the right length, the plate to the right shape and detail, and use the right quality of material to avoid that tinny sound, what else are they skipping under the surface? This is no Fabio. I wouldn't trust them to change the oil and filters on my 575. Do it properly or not at all.

Looks like his Ferrari appreciation has matured. Years ago when he was driving the F430 I mentioned to him the superior experience of the V12 Maranello with manual. He thought the Maranello was "boring".

That’s interesting. I have a gated 430 and a gated 575. I first drove a 575 when they were new and while I never thought it boring I did think it wasn’t as exciting as it should be.

20 years on, 575 is one of the most glorious cars I can imagine driving. I don’t think it’s because I am old(er). I still love boy racer cars, like my 430 or a RWD Huracan. It’s because the 575 improves with each experience of it, like a bottle of great wine. Or a piece of fine music, or a work of real art.

I agree, how can anybody think it’s boring! It’s powerful enough to get the tail out and get you in trouble, and the handling is very sensitive and lively. Also, I don’t have fhp installed, so there is slight lift and dive with hard acceleration and braking, and that adds to the sensation of drama.

That's even more interesting :) I think it is more like fine music or great work of art which are inorganic so they don't really improve with time. However, our understanding and appreciation of them may. Did your 575 improve or your appreciation of it did?

Wow you are right, you have a good eye, the hardware definitely looks different. Here is mine, so the listed car clearly is different. Crazy thing is that when u run the vin, the us department of transportation lists it as an oem manual. Either it’s rebuilt or the vin is “borrowed” from another car

I think we may be wrong. I went back to ad and pics look like oem hardware, I think your pic may be from another car

    You are so right!

Also you can see around the leather where it meets the plate, this is a slight misalignment.

To me this is an EAG conversion.

    Actually you are right.

So the Tan Leather was not even the car.

The Blue leather car now has been sold on the dealers website.

OK, the blue leather car looks real and that is the one listed on the DoT as a factory manual, correct? So that makes sense as it looks like it is one.

The tan interior car in my pictures above is the EAG conversion (with a factory manual for comparison), you can see the same treatment on the NGS video which he says was an EAG conversion. And listen to the sounds of the shifts, it just isn't right. For me the manual 575 shifts with slightly more heft than my 550 but neither of them or any other manual V12 Ferraris (I had a F512M and Testa previously) sound like the EAG shift on the video. You can tell it also feels wrong by watching him play around with the gearstick.

You're right.. Wine does actually improve..maybe there's a case for saying cars improve with more miles and use but that wasn't the point we were making. Yes, like appreciating great music or art, it doesn't change, but your ability to evaluate it does. That's the case for the 575 for sure. But also for many great Ferraris.

2 weeks ago I was at Mohr Imports to see how my girls fit in the rear 3rd row of the AMG 63 wagon and this black on black 550 was still there and available…..

I didn’t point blank ask what the client wants to close a deal but they noted they have definitely seen softening across a wide variety of marques with owners still unwilling to soften themselves….

I think he meant the black on black 550 was allegedly owned by Director Tim Van Patten a guy allegedly “hard on his equipment”.
