I've been hoping Marcel would reply to my thread on chassis numbers and the "GT" designation. Marcel, are you there? Jack
I saw it at the Geneva Classics and at the Brussels retro Festival and it clearly said me that it does not wish to continue to be present on FChat...I hope that it is a temporary decision and that we will be able soon to find it with us...I let it explain us why it made this decision.
oh! i think that he sometimes desapointed about some behavior or argumentations, to many replicas...but also too many time used on the web.
met him at monza - he´s fine and we had a very nice talk. but please understand - everyone is demanding his knowledge and informations, but only very few f-chatters can add their own input.
i understand that. but if only he can write some books it will be better for everyone here concerning the knowledge. i mean in French version too not only italian or english.
I think he got offended by that thread where someone posted his pictures without his trademark and after he told him to please aknowkedge the author of the pic, some members told him that he was overeacting..
You never miss the water 'till the well is dry........ We have exchanged PMs.......hopefully he'll return as time and demands allow..... I agree the response to his reasonable requests was unreasonable, very sad.
It will be our loss when Mr Massini´s decides not to share his wealth of knowledge on this site any longer. And I for one like his style of debating. Mr Massini tells it how it is or how it should be.
I completely agree with his reaction, some people use other people works and believe that they have the right to use it and if the author or owner complain, they are surprise by the reaction. Knowledge = Luck = Money, and for him to share his knowledge, he deserve full respect. No discussion. Do you known any expert who give advices for free ? He is a expert and deserve that his work or photos are respected. Normally, he should get paid to be here, it s my opinion as I saw that he help many people.
I totally agree. I believe it is not only a pleasure but an honour to have him here. I hope he is reading our thread and decides to come back and join us. He is the way he is and if Marcel is upset regarding copyright, well I think he has every reason to be upset. Where else can one get such info? And free at that! I don't know about some but I look forward to reading his posts and viewing his photo's. Just my .02. Vasco
Most people who send pictures to vintage section violate copyright law. The sticky hanging over the threads largely accepts the situation. If you don't agree, it is your problem unless you do something about it...
You are correct. As soon as I would see a post by Marcel, no matter the topic, I would always read to enjoy his words and photos. Marcel freely shared his very valuable information with the FChat community. We were all lucky to be able to enjoy such knowledge as Marcel's, that under normal circumstance, we would have to pay to obtain. Possibly some people did not know the extent and importance of Marcel's work internationally and so did not take his requests seriously. That would be sad. All he wanted was the courtesy of being asked to use his personal photos, and to respect his response. This is part of Marcel's livelyhood, his profession. It was troubling to me that some people just did not have the common sense to understand this and may have ruined it for all. Just because something is posted on a public chat site does not mean the ownership of that material is being relinquished. I would hope that particpants on FChat have a bit more class and knowledge than on other chat sites, and can respect this concept.
