i took a look last night, the original targa bertone renderings were in the buell book. my edition was published in 87. its a great book recommend by ivor march 76 was the date.
the original targa proposal renderings were circa 70 since the interior still featured the 70 geneva show car door panels and door pull. the Rodriguez ones in the landsem were created especially for the book.
yes agreed. three of the other four 33 stradale chassis carrozzeria cars were also wonderful.... (ital iguana, and pinnin alfa 33 coupe) too. bertone appeared here to adapted the carabo theme to an very early urraco full scale proposal in 69. even with a favorable urraco platform compromised had to be made compared to the knee high race heritage 33 chassis. i had a chance to sit in the carabo back in the 90s'. the plastic windshield at that time was so extremely raked along with it being warp, crazed and distorted you couldnt see out of it clearly. it was effectively opaqued ! such a very cool car never the less and a landmark design here is a look of an early urraco interior mock up study to investigate the central pod packaging also a carabo feature. the production urracos end up with marty feldman instrument layout much like the carabo but on a truncated scale. deep dish wheel is theme can also been carried over best regards hf Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thanks - I just assumed the Rodreguez ones were genuine early Bertone sketches. Thanks also for your contribution to the Urraco bible, my copy is much treasured and is re-read on a regular basis. The fact that it exists at all is a very good thing!
It does but it's still an early Urraco proposal, the GT4 was born from this later on. This Urraco proposal was rejected and then left 'on the shelf' at Bertone and dusted off when Ferrari approached them to design the Dino 246's replacement.
Oh - I wasn't doubting that it was a Urracco proposal - but I can definitely see where he went for inspiration for the GT4.
the 308 gt4 was a cumulation of urraco rejects... just kidding, i had a gt4 and driven a half dozen others. its wonderful design in its own right and real drivers car. good to know its finally getting the recognition is deserves.
The Citroen Carmargue (top right) is one of my favourite Gandini designs... bravo looks stunning in its 2nd paint job green. being a high mileage test car at this stage it eventually lost its bravos and had 3 piece wheels.
Nice one with Giugiaro. I also recall one where Gandini was standing next to a Miura and Giugiaro next to a Ghibli, but can’t find it anymore. If I remember correctly it was published in Automobiles Classiques. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Giugiaro and Gandini designed the most beautiful prototypes of the 60s and 70s. Another one with Marcello Gandini. Image Unavailable, Please Login

those 3 piece wheels... you guys ever notice how cool the bravo's side windows work? they cant come down conventionally due to the compound curvature so they used the small 3/4 glass. its really cool how it articulates for the toll booth .
The fantastic Bravo ! Yet another beautiful car that should have been produced. Too bad... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
