Because they are all ignorant in F1.

Only the Scuderia and Ron know the true value of Massa.

So... if Massa was Alonso's test mule... and the Scuderia decided to fire Massa... then even IF it was true that Massa was Alonso's test mule, he still was not doing a good enough job as test mule to be retained by the Scuderia.

Test mule, race driver - still not good enough any more. Still fired by Scuderia Ferrari. Still sucks.

Why is the mention of Mosley manipulating the 2008 season ignorant? FACT remains that Massa didn't win Spa on the track, it was handed to him on a platter after Hamilton and Kimi blew his doors off. Kimi was at least trying to compete with Hamilton, even though his tires were too worn at the end and had lost grip. If it were not for Mosley's interventions in 2008, Massa would never have even been close to the title at Brazil.

Great effort by Massa today! Credit where credit is due.

But then again,... Proof positive he doesn't have a signed seat yet!

Great result but he needs to perform like this consistently, not just when he is under the gun.

+1 nice work. His interview on SKY seemed in-conclusive about a drive next year. If he doesnt have one he has a nice career to look back on and survived a serious injury while at it. Most in F1 never get close to his numbers.
Some here need to seriously get over their silly, almost poisonous hatred of the man. He is leaving. There is a 'Sucks' thread to share their comical hate talk with. They should hate LdM.

What I do know, and this comes from journalist friends I still have on the circuit, is that Massa's car was used the first 60% or so of this season to test parts that would be used on Alonso's car later. He was also under team orders to let Alonso lead at all times. No, Massa is not as fast as Alonso, but as he is showing now that he is watching out for himself, not much slower.

I do place credibility on these journalists, as did I years ago, they make friends with insiders at the teams. They are told what they can or can not publish, but they do know more than anyone else in the sport except the actual teams.

Massa's problem now is he brings no corporate $$.

Yes I read recently Massa does not come with a large sponsorship package. This will make things more difficult for a competitive drive. I think its more likely he will leave F1.

^ so ferrari would rather test parts than win the contructors championship? doubtful.
massa going backwards in the wcc is not helpful to ferraris goal, so i dont believe it.

That scenario also implies that every part Massa tested was crap,... as he was always slower.

Plenty of time in P1/P2/P3 to test components.

In most teams,... the new bits (if in limited supply) are coveted,... and given to the lead driver.

More excuses that don't hold up to even the dimmest bulb. ;)

Even if the parts test scenario was true, it still doesn't explain all the brain farts Massa had when he just spun out on his own.

Sad to see that Massa only tries hard when his back is against the wall. No team needs a driver who is going to coast unless under the gun. Just re-inforces the fat that he should call it a day.

I think you are so wrong..........Today he wasn't under orders to play shotgun to Alonso and could really show his worth. I'm sad he's leaving Ferrari but hes played # 2 for too long. On present form I would love to see him return to Sauber

Df1 is right massa seems like a good guy micheal liked him he out ran kimi a lot .massa has had a hard time I thinks keeping heat in the front tires zo like understeer and pull on the front tires real hard on turn in massa is like more like kimi neutral to oversteer. Thats why he get in traffic and lose the front wing and front tire heat . He might do some one a good job . Most ferrari fans should ask why the company by a clown lawyer whos name is ldm he has cost the company hundreds of millions by pushing out the greatest driver replacing him with a drunk buying him out for 30 millon and now re hiring him when he can't out run his teammate . Ldm has no plan to run the team after next year period zo is out kimi getting paid and what is out there for him to hire . Can't believe he didn't sign hulk

That clown lawyer took a company with lousy products and a dead racing team to the top of the exotic car industry and 6 WDCs.

After he already got 3 titles as team manager for the team.

He is such a clown that he could be Prime Minister of Italy or any other top notch job if he wanted to.

As for the drunk: he won the last WDC for the team

In 1991 gianni agnelli made a decision he was going to try to rebuild ferrari or tell fiat to shut it down . Ga and his brother had mmoney for two new cars 550 and 360 spider. They went out side Italy to hire a person to f1 team jt . Agnelli hire micheal and made a special deal with him about % merchandise sales .ldm never liked that deal and was going to make it very public in 2006 micheal didn't what to get in a pr battle with a clown lawyer hack poor could hear Italian press poor ldm and a greedy driver . Ga had passed in 2002 I guess you know thats who had the for sight and vision to say the brand not ldm period .micheal jt put in the there lives and long hours in to make it happen.

Alonso has been beaten in practice 5 times in the last 6GPs.

In fact, Massa has come on top 8 times in the last 17 GPs this season.

It maybe that Ferrari has backed the wrong horse along and been seing the Spaniard with rose-tinted glasses because of his 2 world titles.

And if points were given for practice and quali,... Massa may not be getting spanked (102 vs 207) by the "Spaniard" (who should have been replaced).

No doubt Massa has stepped it up since his job was threatened then taken away... But he's still getting handily beaten on race day.
