We need the one, two like last year. Unfortunately we've lost Alonso to keep Lewis back to fourth this time. Kovalainen isn't going to do that.

Felipe has to win, not Kimi. The Ferraris snatching points from each other is the last thing we need.

I think Massa will win this race, he knows that if he beats Kimi here then the #1 status is his for sure. This is Kimi's track but Kimi doesn't own the track like Massa owns Bahrain, Turkey and Brazil. Last year there Kimi snatched pole from Massa by 0.017 seconds and that really isn't all that much. This year with Kimi's poor qualifying he really doesn't look likely to take PP let alone a second row grid start.

My money is on Felipe Massa for the race and the championship.

Agreed. While Kimi is my fave driver, lets look at the recent history as an example of what to expect - From Kimi probably not alot. He had 3 weeks off to cure his problems and testing as well. No luck and no change at Valencia. He continues to struggle with a car that doesnt suit his style.

This car suits Felipe. He(kimi) may like the track at Spa but his recent past doesnt say he will own it. I could be wrong and it would be pleasant to see Kimi break out of his low cycle but the car wouldnt have changed that much from Valencia to Spa. Lets hope that Felipe and Kimi both have superb weekends no matter.

i really don't understand how suddenly Kimi can't get the car to suit him. i mean, he was on fire the 1st half of teh year, right till France. after that he just went downhill.

The car suits him, if it didn't, he wouldn't be able to constantly drive the fastest laps of them all towards the end of the race. The problem is that he only wakes up 20 minutes before the race ends, and not Friday arriving at the track like he should. His motivation or rather the lack thereof is the whole problem...

Mark Twain once said, "Tis better to look stupid and remain silent that open one's mouth and remove all doubt".

Lewis, if you read this, you should listen to Mark Twain as Massa and Kimi are going to kick your sorry arse all over the track this weekend.

Kimi has stated in the recent past of troubles with balance, turn-in(so says Domencalli) and tires. Who knows why Felipe hasnt been bothered as much. They have both had problems as in Germany but overall it has been published that this car does not suit Kimi as much as Felipe. No bias I think, just in terms of development it suits Felipe.

I agree. There's nothing in what Hamilton said that warrants the negative comments about him in this thread. That said, go Massa! :)

    Absolutely dead nuts on.

Kimi himself or someone in the team better light a fire under the boy. We had this same stuff earlier. Casey at the bat.
Massa has really impressed me with his dedication this year.
All that said I would not discount Mclaren. Even Kovi. They will bring it all to Spa.
It's going to be a great race.

I'd agree with you but there's always the chance of rain at Spa. If that happens I don't think Massa will take the win.

Don't forget there have been many, many updates to the car since the beginning of the season. It seems these updates have suited Massa's style of driving better than Kimi. There seems to be a period when the tires wear in, a window that gives Kimi the car he'd like to have through the whole race.

The stars may very well align and it could be Massa's year. But there are a lot of points up for grabs with six races left. Anything, as we'd seen last year, can happen. :)

Possibly true. But those that work the hardest seem to be the luckiest. ( Or have the "right" car )

I'd completely understand all that if Kimi was consistently slow. But he isn't. He has his five minutes every race when he's the fastest on the grid, even scores the overall fastest laps. You can't do that if the setup isn't absolutely perfect for you.

Massa can be good in the rain too. Just hope Ferrari don't mess up the pit/tire strategy.

    IMO, no it doesn't.

Yes he would and does...Kimi is simply just that good. He's not considered arguable the fastest and best driver in F1 for nuthin' ;)

I disagree. IMO, the problem is the car does not suit his style at all. He's been working very hard with the team to rectify that problem. It's funny...he's driving a car that doesn't suit his style at all, he's had major setbacks that he could not avoid, (ie. LH running into the back of him, the teams terrible tire choice in the rain, his car breaking apart durring a race and also his engine going kerblamo in another race) and yet he's still 3rd in the WDC points and still a solid contender for the championship again. Massa, on the other hand, is driving a car that perfectly suits his style, is doing everything he can and then some to try and make sure his car runs absolutely perfectly because if it isn't...well, we've seen what happens...and also has had very little major problems this season that were not his doing is only 8 points ahead of Kimi??

My vote is still with Kimi for the WDC, again. ;)

Well actually you can...if you're as gifted and talented of a driver as Kimi. ;)

Hamilton was defiant several times last year though when Ron told him to defer to Alonso. I like Hamilton he's an amazing driver with a lot of motivation. I know he comes from the evil Mclaren camp but I dunno why people on here dislike him so much.

I'm going to agree with you here. I think Kimi should have put in time in the simulator before Valencia as Massa did. Massa apparently put quite a few hours in it, something I find quite ironic as so many LH detractors were all over his @ss for using one to great extent last year. Given Massa and LH performance at Valencia I surely hope Kimi puts in the electronic seat time prior to Singapore. Simulators have proven their worth in training pilots, tank commanders and gunners in the U.S. army and infantry as well. If what you've been doing isn't working you need to change your tactics. I still believe Kimi is "faster" than Massa but Massa's been able to apply the talent that he has in a better manor.

We all love Kimi's "old school" character in regards to his life and driving but there’s been a paradigm shift in how much preparation a driver puts in not only to training but also to race preparation. It's time for him to adapt or die, so to speak.

Massa being on top of his game at minute, is making Kimi's position look worse than it really is, now don't spit your dummys out Massa fans, I think it's great he is on on top form, however Kimi is a phenomenal driver, so I wouldn't be hasty crowning Massa yet!, the problem is Lewis could gain from them battling it out.

    +1 I could hazard a guess, but they won't like it. ;)
