MAybe the car didn’t suit him at all. He also had a pretty big fall out with Harry Potter regarding following sainz direction for the car instead of Charles.
To add something in this way, I was really disappointed to see him kneeling during the Hamilton circus. Max has never done that submission move..
Charisma or whst leclerc wanted from the car wasn't possible, I don't know. Imo it was never going to work with this car anyways so I hope the brunt of the work is focused on 22. Fully agreed on that. Sainz also refused to kneel I think. Good for them!
Not going to lie; I was disappointed in him caving to peer pressure as well, but that’s not enough for me to want him out. He’s had three great seasons out of four. There are always going to be some seasons that are better than others along the way. He’s committed to winning with Ferrari and he’s the second youngest driver to ever get a Ferrari seat. The team has invested a lot of time and money and I believe he’s a guy who can get the job done if provided with a car that can do so too.
Agreed I don't want to get rid of leclerc at all. Is max an upgrade? Yes. But it wouldn't have resulted in a championship this season. At a push maybe a race win or 2 (monaco the most likely one). I'm not blaming leclerc too much for not winning monaco. He had an uncompetitive car, had to work a miracle to even get it on pole and overdid it. **** happens.
Drivers race within their car's capabilities. Charles and Carlos were not racing any of the Mercedes or RB drivers. Nor were they racing any of the Alfa, Aston, Alpine, Williams, or Haas drivers. Not their race. They were racing Norris, Gasely, occasionally Ricciardo, and themselves with McLaren fading in the second half of the season. For drivers only the championship counts. For constructors where the money is it's a boring calculated numbers game. You're not going to see a whole lot of excitement or racing for 5th place in drivers ranking, but you'll see some calculated risk taking for 3rd place constructors ranking. If they have a car that can challenge the top cars next season I think we will see a lot more "charisma" out of the two Cs at Ferrari. At least that's what I'm hoping for.
I'd like to see that...I'm not certain if Charles can take Max yet. Their skills are similar, but Max's aggressiveness intimidates the other drivers. I said before, Hamilton is the only guy I've seen pass Max on track. Max drives him hard but he still goes at him. I saw Charles go wheel-to-wheel once in Austria and I don't recall him doing it again. Bottas had his tail tucked every time they encountered. Many may dislike LH, but I think his skills will surface once he's gone. ...and before I hear about the "dominant Merc" and MV raising his game to overcome the Goliath, let's hear from Adrian Newey: Newey added he believes his team had the faster car for most of the season and admitted the change in regulations had played into their hands in the first part of the season before Mercedes were able to close the gap as the year progressed. “We all voted for the regulation changes,” said the former Williams and McLaren technical boss. “Did it suit us more than Mercedes? It seems so, certainly earlier in the year, then in the last few races they came back strong “But I think on balance we’ve probably had the quicker car, and that’s a tribute to everyone back at the factory."
Charles and Max have been racing against each other since they were in short pants. After the antics in Austria, Charles is aware of what the stewards will tolerate from Max. Game on, he will give no quarter.
Yeah, I don't disagree with any of that really. I will say that Leclerc and Verstappen have been racing each other since karts, and I doubt either of them are intimidated by the other. Silverstone 2019 shows it: Love this kid. His dueling is just so smooth. Leclerc vs. Verstappen in 2022 would be amazing.
I like Charles and think they are well matched. But he's gotta be willing to stick his nose in or Max will always close him out. I put Charles up there with Max but he has the edge at this moment.
Somebody is going to come up with a rule where "if you make a big lunge and do not allow the outside driver to stay on track", you get a 5 second time penalty.
And then the outside driver will go off track deliberately like Lulu would do. Bono bono bono .,dangerous, i had to avoid ,he pushed me off.
Wonder why you think so. To me Max showed multiple times he can race wheel to wheel pretty wel. Both raced before in sort of equal cars (I think Ferrari had the upper hand that moment) and they seemed to be on par. Both great drivers and a joy to watch.
Max gets congratulated at Milton Keynes. Tweet— Twitter API (@user) date Tweet— Twitter API (@user) date
Nope, cameras everywhere prevent this, the car on the inside has to allow the car on the outside to stay on the road. This is known as giving enough room for the other guy--already an established rule. Now, with the current interpretation of the rules (which I disagree with) the amount of space just has to be enough for the outside car to have 2 inside tires still touching the white line. Clearly this did not happen in Brazil, Losail, and Abu Dhabi. Clearly this DID happen at Silverstone (except for the touching part). And this is why I think the rule should be that the OUTSIDE tire has to remain inside/touching the white line--after all that is what is known as the "race track".
