Yes, MD protocol is def check the thicknesses/depth. Easy to do when the car is elevated on a drive on ramp - I have HRE wheels so perhaps more "access" than OE.

After all this hassle, you'll still want to go to the MVA on 1/1/23 to convert registration to historic to avoid the emissions testing. Or, get an address in one of the many MD counties that don't require emissions.

No question about switching to Historic tags in January- just trying to get the car legally on the road until then.

Happy Ending: I arranged with Brian at Potomac BP to bring the car in today at 10:00 am for inspection. He promised me that Andy or Terry would take care of things, and that I was welcome to hang around for the one hour or less it would take, especially since I live 1.5 hours away.
True to his word, they took me promptly and I was out of there in a half hour. Andy was great- clearly quite familiar with- and appreciative of- Ferraris, and a pleasure to deal with. All in all, a painless process THANKS, all!

    Me too, thanks!
Just picked up my permanent tag- permanent, at least, until I switch to Historic tags in January.

I just got a new-to-me Lusso and went to the Potomac BP because of this thread. THANK YOU! Quick, painless inspection when great people. Great experience and highly recommend!

    Hi Folks,

Is the BP at Potomac still the recommended place for MD inspections ?

Need to do the inspection on a ‘15 Alfa Romeo 4C.

If any forums members have gone recently and can give a thumbs up/down, it would be super.

    Thanks in advance.

It's been 2.5 years since my experience outlined above, and I've not heard anything more on the subject since then- sorry. Just to reiterate though, the folks at BP in Potomac were a pleasure to deal with, and at that point had been doing MD inspections for a long time. Good luck!

    Ok, thanks for the feedback.

I called BP at Potomac and Brian is still there but Andy and Terry no longer work there.

So, just wanted to confirm if the place has kept the same level of positive feedback/performance shared in this thread.

If I end up performing the inspection at this location I plan post feedback here accordingly.

    Best.

    Hi Folks,

Verdict: We have excellent continuity of service at BP Potomac!!

Took the Alfa Romeo 4C for the MD inspection today and all I can say is (consistent with the earlier feedback): Great people, professional, excellent service, hyper cautious with the car and super reasonable ($125!). All my worries evaporated once I saw how Brian et al work!

Without any hesitation, I recommend BP Potomac for MD inspections of any exotic/super-car (for any car, really).

    Best
