For the rear-axle,it is also the type I have found, but the fact that the two numbers begin 508E seems are common to the same car (a 250 GTE) ?

Guy - you are obviously in good hands with Kare and T308 - these are part of the 12-cylinder drivetrain, not 4-cylinder.

I look forward to seeing pictures!

Kare,I have not found the gear box number .the GB is too much dirty and the car is not home. The one number I have found is only . 7 Anything else .
I see also near the engine N°680/62E ( under N0 4063) but I think is is an engine number (?) I have deduce the year of the car is 1962 (?)
Please look at the rear-axle photo, it is more clean now ! no
If you want ,I can sent you other pics of the begin restoration.

The 680/62E number is the internal number and is only one away from mine (681/62E) yet the s/n are well apart (4063 v 3921). Your rear axle is 640, mine 579. As you can see there's no rhyme nor reason to it. I suggest you contact the factory with the numbers and they'll confirm if they came from 4063.

You are brainfading aren't you? According to my notes your engine is #554, gearbox is #681 and rear end #579 - which is a good set of numbers for what is belived to be 575th car built. The rear end in 117/S is also a very good match for the engine as 4063GT was the 634th GTE built. The gearbox number should be a bit higher as GTE shared the gearbox production with the 2nd hundred S.2 Cabrios. Best wishes, Kare

Well, you could call it that. I mixed three things I shouldn't have last night, Fchat, Internal Numbers and a bottle and a half of the grape!

    You are of course correct...

Well, counting 1-3-5... 117/S would have been 59th odd numbered street chassis built by Ferrari. Best wishes, Kare

Kare, do you think it's so easy to counting this way ? They are many odd number who don't exist, and I must add even numbers and race cars to have the number th overall built by Ferrari.
    Thank you.

    Bryan,
Today,at last,I have recuperate my car: 117S is come back home after 3 months.
My coachbuilder has found cellulosic varnish, and the paint look like New but she is + 40 years old.
I am very satisfied of the work and the result is for me very good !
About the trap of dry oil tank it seems a top original part.
The paint gloss seems to show an another trap of sump (?) on the left side of the car ? Do you think it is possible ???
4 pics, for you and also Stu , kare ,T308 and other who help me....; of the paint car, of the right light, of the trap.

congratulations, Guy! very nice work. Off the top of my head, I can't imagine why there would be traces of a possible trap door on the left side of the car. While 500 TRs and TRCs had their oil tanks on that side (and the filler door), your body is clearly the previous generation Scaglietti body where the tank was on the driver side.

    Drive her in good health!

Thank you very much Bryan, your congratulations are very important for me an the result of the trap is also your result.
Definitively, you are sure? there is any doubt , no trap sump can exist on the left side ???
Now, I continue to restore little by little the car and I re-contact you (with your permission), if I need something.
    Best regards.
