The reason it's rude is that everyone's situation in life is different. Person A might be able to donate $1000 to (as an example) frog rehabilitation without difficulty. Person B might only be able to donate $10 while still being able to pay the rent. That doesn't mean that Person A is 100 times as dedicated or generous as Person B, just that they have more disposable income. A public list might make Person B feel unhappy about their donation. Even more likely, Person C, who just happens to see the list, might make unwarranted assumptions about both benefactors based on the donation amounts.

After six years raising funds for Child Advocates, I've found Tillman's observations to be spot on........

It's not the size of the check so much as the size of the heart....

EVERYBODY gets an equal share of the results!

I've taken large donations down to very small ones on my team. The most valuable thing I've sent to the program in all that time was a woman who stopped me and said,

"I'd like to volunteer my time to become involved and work with Child Advocates, can you tell me how to be involved in this program?"

Somewhere out there is a young child who's life will be impacted forever more by that decision..........

THAT's the biggest donation I've ever received. She gave of herself.

I'm registered for 2, and John Houghtaling said I could "refer" additional attendees. They obviously have to keep close reign on participant numbers vs. catering, but the track event and concours event have "at the door" provisions.

There's actually Ala Carte pricing for ALL the parties, etc.
