It could be titled as an "82, many times with imports if they don't sell soon enough they wind up going to the next year for the title.

One of my cars is a '66 MGBGT that is titled as a '67, there are a few differences between '66 and '67.

Has anyone been sending the link to this thread to the bidders on the car? I just dropped a note to "theautoplace," the current high bidder.

That should make me popular with Mr. Kessler.

Not this car. The center console is 80 as the day is long. ONLY year it was like that. Ferrari changed it in 81 and it stayed that way until the 308 was discontinued in 85. Besides he is claiming it is an 82 not an 81 AND the VIN plate supports this.

Yes, it would be interesting to hear what Ferrari NA has to say about Mr. Steven Kessler.

Full VIN codes (defining model year) were introduced to prevent this. A car built in October 1981 belongs to MY/1982 - no problem with that.

I agree with Tommy's excellent notes over interior details. It is possible but VERY UNLIKELY that the 1980 center console was installed by factory. VERY LIKELY that interior parts were replaced to repair some damage caused by being left out in the rain/dog chewing the leather/whatever reason.

That's why I want to see both the assembly # on the left side and the VIN chassis stamp on the right side of the rear chassis. For some reason he doesn't want to photograph at least the VIN stamping for us. Why?
