Just a rant...My new microwave has the kitchen appliance equivalent of BMW's infamous idrive. It doesn't have a keypad so I can't manually enter a cook time unless I press the "manual cook" button and use the scroll wheel. However, the scroll wheel adjusts in only 10 second increments so I can't cook/heat something for say 35 seconds; its either 30 or 40 seconds, but nothing in-between. The darn thing even has a "favorites" section and a "demo mode" among a bunch of other things. I entered my preferred coffee warming time as a "favorite" but it takes so many steps to access it I find it easier to just hit the "30 seconds" button several times.

Side-note: In recent office space I used is a built-in microwave with a label indicating a build date in 1985; it has a rotary dial and works just fine. It is actually older than our intern!

Anyone with a similar story they wish to share?

Below are a couple pics of the idrive afflicted device.

I surprised they didn't use the ipod click wheel interface.

Wife selected the appliances for new house; I didn't see it until installed. Of course, somehow it must be my fault. ;)

I figured that was coming; I almost included "and no I don't have pics of intern" caveat! :D She is a California girl but it would be inappropriate for me to comment more (wife might be watching). :D

    Oh okay

So, doesn't that count as payback for buying a crappy microwave? :D

    +2 :D

I would be pissed. There are so many things I heat for odd times like 31 seconds or something. And what moron decided there didn't need to be 5 second increments?
