I just got a quote of $8,700.00 for the Engine out service on a 93 Mondial T. This is a lot highter than what other posters have been paying for the last 6 months. Does anyone have a clue what the increase is from or am I just getting an old fashion lube job without the lube?

Anyone out there can give me some advice on getting an engine out service done?

I also have a leaking front schock... which I am going to have rerplaced or rebuilt (if it can be)?

This does seem a bit high for the engine out service on a Mondial. I have seen quotes here in Northern California for a major service on a Mondail at around $5k....but this would be from a well established private mechanic.....not Ferrari of San Francisco.....it may be worth your effort to shop around and have your Mondial trucked to a cheaper yet reliable service center......

I believe Peter Sweeney (Forza) is in your area. In fact you have several respected Ferrari mechanics there, so if it were my wallet I would make a few local or almost-local calls.

That doesn't sound too rediculus. Audi wants $7,500 to replace a turbo on a 2.7tt (engine out.)

Just wondering, are you pretty happy with the work done at GLB? They are just down the street, i used to take my old BMW and Porsche there. The Mondial has been going to a different shop because it had emmission issues which GLB is not certified by the state to address.

That's the Greenwich price!!! I had my 308 serviced there once back in July '00. $2200 for coolant flush, bleed brakes, oil change, new right rear rotor, and adjust tranny linkage. Two weeks later, I was driving my 308, and lost 1st and 2nd gear (limped home in 3rd). Had to make several calls to get Miller to fix the tranny issue for n/c. They eventually did fix the tranny linkage for n/c. After that I shopped around and have used an independant on Long Island ever since.

    You could also try;
Jean-Louis LeMans 24 garage (just down the road from Miller)
    Autosport Designs (Long Island)
    RPM Racing (Long Island)
    Forza Motorsports (Upstate CT)
    Classic Coach (New Jersey)

You could delete "Miller" from your post title. Ultimately that might get us to the point sooner...

    IF THE TENSIONERS ARE NEEDED?!!!!!!!

Anytime you pull the engine for the major you change the tensioners with the belt. That is part of the major, not in addition, or subjective. Plus the bearings DO NOT cost $1400. Everything else you listed is also part of the major. The belt AND bearings alone cost me $700, and I have found them cheaper since my major.

Fricken-A I HAAAAATE when people try to rip off Ferrari owners.

the bearing parts change day to day .. your looking at 1200+ for just the bearings ! never included in ANY major service. like I said compare apples to apples .

Hmmm... ernie has 3000+ posts and info in his profile. A quick check reveals lots of assitance and help to other users in the past.

You on the other hand have 5 posts, no profile info, and worst of all, are rude.

Please go away unless you can be nice.

Oh really????? Well for your information Doofus I know EXACTLY what I'm talking about. I did my own ENGINE OUT major in my garage, by myself. So I know what it REALLY takes to do the job. If you buy the bearings from the crook dealers, yeah you'll pay $1200. But the bearings DO NOT cost $1200 in the real world, and I have reciepts to PROVE IT. I don't even have to got that far, just have a look at what our Fchat Sponsor sell the tensioners for http://www.customferrariparts.com/ferrari-engineparts.htm. Try $220 pounds, and that is for the set! In dollars thats about $450. So keep shut before you make yourself look like an even bigger idiot.

Experts. HA!!! Experts at burning people for their money.

Thats great ! I gave a response to a question that was asked ! !

I did not make any rude comments or anything of that nature ! !

I simlpy stated the FACTS period.

And it's MR. doofus to you ! !

Does your independent give you a 1 year warranty on parts and labor ? ?

When your books are stamped by the dealer .. your re-sale is more valuable ! !

Are you getting the latest parts ? ? updates etc. etc .

Do they check for any open campaigns ? ? cause' there's a lot of them ! !

Im really glad you did your own major .. Im sure that goes real far when you go to sell the car ! hmm. are the books stamped major by Ernie ? ? ?

Not trying to be rude .. Just stating the facts.

Oh really, and what proof do you have on support of those "facts" you stated? I provided proof that the tentioners DO NOT cost $1400 or even $1200.

You may not be trying to be rude, but you are directing people in the wrong direction, with dollars figures you just pull out of the air.

You have been on this site over a year with only 6 posts. Three of those have been arguing with me about something you have no first hand knowledge about.

Maybe I should have called you a lurking troll instead of a doofus.

I have in no way mis-directed nor have I been pulling numbers out of the air ! !

Call the local dealers and see what the bearings cost.

The dealers are required to purchase available parts from FNA.

    (FERRARI NORTH AMERICA)

By the way I have 20+ years of FERRARI experience ! ! I have been to the factory many times & certified on EVERY CAR built by them since the 328.

I receive a few calls each week, from independents who run into trouble .. and I have NEVER refused to help.

Sorry, that I do not post more often .. I really have no interest in getting into a internet boxing match.

I stated the facts end of story .. this post was about a Gentleman that was looking for a dealer / repair shop that could do his major .. at a more reasonable cost..

That is the quote you would get from Miller Motorcars ..
