That was fun...and just what I needed in the dark hours of the search to keep me motivated. I have a few questions: 1) what is that chase/filming car in the top vid? 2) Is your exhaust stock or? 3) What exactly happended to the rotors and what did you end up doing about it? Thanks!
i just found those vids on youtube. no affiliation or knowledge of who the people are. but my own exhaust is standard. the story of my rotors is in a few threads already. but quick synopsis: in the morning i dipped a tire into the gravel. unbeknownst to me, this introduced pebbles into the brake disk holes, and then they worked their way between the pads and the disk, thereby degrading both to a degree that i could not drive home. you cant change one side without the other, so i had to swap out both pads and rotors in front. $4.5k/corner.
Wow, that's 50% of the cost I've been quoted per corner...can you PM where you got that done and/or got the parts? Thanks.
dealer in geneva...... and this must be the only thing in geneva that is cheaper than in the usa..... ask taz about non oem rotors tho
Thanks. If I end up tracking a CS much, I will likely put steel rotors on it and then put the CCM back on to sell it later. There is a thread I started on that where some very knowledgable/first-hand-experienced members chime in with specifics.
frankly, i would just buy a 360 challenge. it has steel brakes and you wont care about the other stuff that will get affected. cheaper in the long run
Ross - Having lived in Geneva myself, I agree that just about everything is crazy priced! I remember paying rent close to $2500/month for an apartment in a rather unattractive part of town (Charmilles). Glad to hear the rotors weren't so bad. For USA based customers, here's a nice alternative to CCM on the Stradale: http://www.ricambiamerica.com/product_info.php?cPath=602&products_id=343650
I did the Corse Pilota in 1993 (the first Class offered), and in 2003. Here's a foto from '03 with the 360's, and 575's, we drove. BTW half the 575's were sticks!
Dino - We no longer stock those at Ricambi America, but refer many customers to Girodisc . They have a very extensive catalog of Ferrari braking solutions, so it might be easiest to call them directly and discuss your requirements.
