This 1988 BMW M3 is a US-spec example that is finished in Henna Red over Pearl Beige leather and was purchased eight years ago by the seller, who has since added approximately 2k miles. Power comes from a stock 2.3-liter S14 inline-four paired to a 5-speed manual transmission. Alterations include one known repaint, E39 5-Series alloy wheels, and reupholstered front seats. Over $14k in servicing has been completed during the seller’s ownership as detailed below, primarily by German MotorWerks, Inc. of Longwood, Florida. The sale includes the original wheels, a BMW certificate, a clear Carfax, and a clean Florida title in the seller’s name. Henna Red was only offered for the 1988 model year on US-spec E30 M3s.

Auction ends Thursday, May 17th at 2:10pm EST

I was following this on BAT, what do you think held the price back? I was very surprised at the low bid.

Just saw this and spent my weekly 45 mins on BAT! Always wanted one of these and I'd be glad it didn't make the reserve-it's worth more. They didn't make many of these, it still had the 4 cyl engine, it's a Fla car and has more records/history than most. Love the red also

These are the reasons for the lower prices:

    1. Rust repair by replacing the whole trunk, so car is no longer original
    2. The engine compartment does not show well compared to the exterior of the car, so car was not well tended to before the repaint.
    3. Speedo inop for a time

I had a car like this except with medium tan interior. I think at $40k, it is an ok deal.

Its just finding the right buyer. you have the stock wheels ? if so put them back on

BAT has been good even for the cars I auctioned RNM. Other bidders either stepped up or I just directed inquiries to the site instead of having to give details every call.

I agree bring the car back to as original as possible ... it is what the market demands.
