Here she is again.... It didn't quite meet the reserve 1st time so this time, the LAST TIME, I am doing the unthinkable of starting the auction for this practically brand new car, $70k car at $1 with NO RESERVE. Auction is scheduled to start at 10pm Central time tonight and the Item# is 190033585207 During the first listing, the auction had +20 bids, +30 prospects on the watch list and +3500 hits on the counter. I also received a lot of interests, inquiries and some offers from individuals as well as dealerships around the country. However, the best offer (from a dealership) was in the low $50k. Given the car highly publicized profile and the active participation level in the original listing, my hope is market will do an effective job of price discovery; hence, the risk of giving it away is low. What do you think?
If you really want to go with no reserve I'd suggest starting the auction at the lowest price you would realistically consider selling the car for, no less. I don't see any benefit to starting an auction for something like that in the $1.00 range. Maybe others will see it differently. >8^) ER
I'll bid on it up to 30k haha Mean looking car, but it will take the right buyer to get good money out of it.
Sorry to say most people that have a no reserve auction have a shill bid up if it looks like they won't get what is needed. Not the most honest thing but better than taking a 20k hit for an auction that doesn't go your way.
true with many but that won't happen w/ this seller. my integrity is worth more than $20k but that's just me.
I may be in the minority, but I think this is the BEST way to sell cars on Ebay. There are far too many people watching these auctions for the car to sell too far below market value. I also hate seeing No Reserve auctions with an opening bid that is high to begin with. Starting the auction at $1 generates TONS more interest in your sale and will pay dividends in the long run. Good luck, I think you'll be pleased with your results.
I agree, I've started auctions at my selling price as the start price and they haven't sold, I then relist them 99p no reserve and often they make more than what I started the original one at What makes me laugh is the jerkoffs who bid £1, £2 or £10 on a Ferrari or similar knowing well its going to make serious money, I just find that a bit sad, maybe they can tell their playground mates they bid on a Ferrari etc...
i shall reflect fondly on these kind words of encouragement when the auction expires 7 days from now with the winning bid of $38 ps: my genuine thanks for your well wishes.
Wouldn't your previous auction give you a pretty good idea of what the car will be bid up to? Reserve or not I would think your final bids would indicate where the next one will go unless these threads create much more buzz. Good luck!
Tom, do you not think you are limiting the customer base as a result of having the smoked head lights/tail lights as it is something very unusual to have done, especially as smoked as they are. Just a thought.
they are tint films and not permanently smoked. all four can be pulled off in 10 seconds......(it's indicated in the ad description). good point.
I won't let that happen to you. I will make certain that I put in the final bid for $39. I know, I know, there seems to be no limit to the way in which I help others. In all seriousness, the auction will end well for you. Would you be better off to have your auction end on a Sunday night though? I've heard people say that they always have auctions end on Sunday nights between 7 and 10pm.
I figure if one has a chance (abeit a minuscute one) to buy a 148k Super Porsche at a cost of a Bud Light, one will make time to buy it on any night of the week.. ps: Your point is valid. I might need to rethink about listing it on Sunday instead. On the plus side, it gives me a few more days of driving it. On the minus side, time is clicking and I need the space.
You're probably right about the day not making a huge difference on this caliber of car. Best of luck to you, that's a beautiful car that anyone would be lucky to own!
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1,1&item=190033585207&ih=009&sspagename=STRK%3AMESC%3AIT here it is, m. scheduled to start tonight....
I'd have to agree with the above - need to find the right a$$ for the seat if you want to fill it. Most would pony up their shekels for go before they spend on show, & there are plenty of 996s of the turbo variety out there for less money. That said - the car is certainly worth what you are asking.
Good luck bro. Make sure indicate in the ad that you reserve the right to sell it offline...and that you will not take a Hugo and a ready-made kitchen in trade, no matter how high the quality!
What's up with e-bay? I can't even see it without registering. Never had this problem before... But this enzo link in this thread works for me??? http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?p=136089889#post136089889
I scheduled the auction to start at 11pm CT. I could get access to the link but that's because I am the seller. If you check back in an hour or so, it should work. Here are some pictures from a recent photoshoot. Enjoy.
