Hi all. Title says it all. My dog threw up right over / in the center console into the ashtray and the mirror switch. I took the whole center console piece out and cleaned everything up, but then some mystery piece fell out of the bottom or so when I was working on it. I don't know what it is or where it goes. The interior was at some point in the past "de-sticky buttoned" by someone, so it's possible that the center console was out previously? Don't know. Any help would be appreciated.

    2000 Ferrari 360

I'll post photos of the part and the dog!

Not 100% sure, but it looks like part of the ash tray. How tight is your ashtray lid?

Like the snappiness of the lid? Not very. It always closes shut when I accelerate hard?

It's definitely the spring for the lid. You should be able to snap it back into place, or if the mounting hole is cracked, which it probably is, use some strong epoxy like JB Weld to hold it in place.

Although it wasn't a good experience for you, I always like it when something new comes up -- so when I read you title "My dog puked in my 360...", I smiled a little ;)

Yup. Part of the ashtray. You just need to reposition it so that it holds itself in and works the lid. I just replaced both ashtrays and lighters in my 456m and switched covers, which required removal of that exact piece.

I was also confused by the question mark at the end of the sentence. Did you mean to ask if this is normal? If yes, then no, it's not normal. Sometimes I have problems opening and closing mine because it's so tight.

Really? Wow. Okay, that makes more sense now. On a good "launch", it always flies open. My kid always laughs when that happens - he says the car is so quick it makes the ashtray fly open. I always thought that was an odd design. Turns out it's not - it's just broken!

I wonder if I'm the only one. Probably not. I'm going to try gluing it with some epoxy and see how that works. If it's not satisfactory, then I'll procure a new one.

I don't think it's normal. I just don't know how to fix it.

Good luck with the glue... otherwise you will need deep pockets

There's junk lids with springs attached on eBay for $80. $80 is a lot to pay for a spring, but you know...

Thanks, I have all of that info in my signature, and it used to show up on the old forums software here on FerrariChat, but when they upgraded to the new software, they got rid of all of the signatures (it appears), and thus it doesn't show up...

Thanks everyone, the glue in the glove box worked.

The "signature section" of my profile is missing, I think I need to "subscribe" or something. I've never quite paid attention to the various levels that one needs to sign up for here - I'll have to look at it later...
