F8 and 992 Turbo S are a great combination. This was taken after car bath time yesterday. Image Unavailable, Please Login
The F8 is unsettlingly (I don't need wheel spin and the back end misbehaving when coming out of the work car park with what seems like modest throttle input) twitchy when tyres (all year, rather than winter) are cold and the road surface is wet. The Turbo S is as quick as the F8 but has much greater adhesion to the road in unfavourable conditions, is easier on your sphincters and inspires confidence when pushing the car. Having said that the F8 is the more engaging car to drive and would be my choice when roads are dry and when you need to leave a car parked outside a restaurant (not than any are open at the moment), etc, as it looks so understated.
I partially disagree with the understated part on the F8. The disagreement comes to question when you say understated; compared to what? Pista, Aventador... perhaps but it holds its own very well, among them and others too. I would say the Porsche is more understated given the massive bastardization of the 911 line. Which is something I have heavily criticized about Porsche and now Mercedes. These days, only people that know their cars can tell a 911 GTS or even a 4S from a TTS or even GT models, because they are so similar. Before I go under fire, I am a GT2 owner... as much as it hurts to admit this, it is the truth. The F8 is elegant yet you can't really confuse it with any other car, not even within the same brandso understated is not the word I would use to describe the F8. People know that it is a Ferrari.
I have to say that the 'understated' comment about the F8 was a bit tongue-in-cheek and agree with you that for 99.9% of the population, all 911s are the same. That's both good and bad.
Perfect for me as the F8 is a special occasion type of car and the 911 turbo S will be my daily driver. Nothing to see here just another 911!
I, .........I don't mean to pry, but you have piqued my curiosity- how many ***holes do you have? Mike
ahhhhhh.....well I have heard that those Porsche guys are a bunch of *******s, so that makes sense ... Mike
Congratulations on your new car. Lots of talk about 993 /997 all great cars . I own the original car from Bad Boys 1 ...964 Turbo 3.6 Car is presently in Atlanta at the Porsche Experience Center on display with the cars from Bad Boys for Life. I purchased from Michael Bay in '05 sold it in '09 and repurchased it in'14. Won't make that mistake again. Image Unavailable, Please Login
A few years ago I went to Porsche Naples. Tried to negotiate on a new car, salesman told me most customers who come thru the door can afford to buy the dealership. LOL Nice guy but I ended up purchasing my Turbo S at Champion. Love the Turbo S and my friend just had his delivered this week , going to drive it tomorrow. He has owned 3 previous S cars and told me the new one is insane fast. I think it's about 70 more HP. Best of luck with your car. Mike
I was surprised how little attention my RC F8 received. The odd look and comment but not much.My many Porsches attracted virtually no looks or comments. My Performante was always the center of attention wherever I went. From young children to older ladies, the comments, photos, and compliments were pervasive. Always very respectful and lots of fun.
He was probably just talking of nausea or reflux disease, referring to his upper and/or lower esophageal sphincters.
Funny I heard that about Ferrari owners. Turns out that neither is true. Otherwise, that would make me @$$#ole squared.
Coming from a 944 turbos ,my first 911 was that same car,a 964 3.6 turbo and was amazed how fast it was and the best looking wheels ever.Traded for a 993turbo (which I still own) and couldn't believe how fast that was-Road and Track had it at 3.7 0-60. So probably can't imagine how fast new turbo S is. Now have 488 and F8 Spider coming in June 2021. But i did see a you tube 1/4 test where the F8 bested the 992 turbo s.
Yeah, but I have only seen in the 1/2 mile. I was under the impression that on 1/4 mile 992 TTS would likely beat the F8.
