And now a patented Horsefly sarcastic observation: By all means, let us not allow a thread to wander and drift about and cause valuable knowledge and photographs to be posted. By all means, let us all stay ridgedly on topic like automated robots and bring up NO other topic that might cause increased interest and valuable data to be unearthed. Let us "cubbyhole" all information in seperate threads so that the discussion becomes widespread and dispersed so that there is no single gathering point for a spontaneous divulgance of vintage data. I am so glad that moderators jump in and put a stop to the continued growth of an interesting thread. Let us discuss 0846 in one thread, 0854 in another, Piper in another, Tom Meade in another, etc, and NEVER allow one thought to cross over into another. I'm quite sure that JG is very angry that P4Replica posted reems of additonal P4 data and photographs in HIS thread. Three swats on the wrist to P4Replica for contaminating JG's thread!!!
Agreed to all except that I didn't see a mod jump in to keep the thread on track, quite the opposite. Accuse me of sidetracking things if you must and I plead guilty.
Now I remember why you're on ignore, Arlie. I said nothing of the sort. Please, feel free to disrupt this thread as you did the "Ferrari quiz thread" with your idiotic ramblings. I rarely see them anyway. Tifosi, I never tried to defend Jim, I just knew the thread would "blossom", and like bees to honey, swarming would commence. SAdly, only in non-vintage can there be lookit my kewl new toy threads without drama. Every 15-20 years I want to get back into things, and am reminded why I left in the first place. PS, I don't believe moderators should defend anyone. They are neutral by definition. Very poorly handled all around, and we all knew where it was going...it's there right now. I didn't help, but it doesn't need to turn into the same saw each time as well. Hard gleaning information without drama(or overgeneralization and poor comprehension in Arlie's case).
Chill out Sfumato, I was not even referring to ANY of YOUR postings WHATSOEVER. I was referring to Wax's post #320. Take a chill pill.
wow, i had often wondered how he was injured, but i didnt dare ask. glad to see he still races, i dont know that i would!
......uuummm....*ahem*......Jim......Congrats again on another fine purchase. Thank you for sharing your 2nd P. Have you gone for that ride yet? Vasco
1. Haven't seen one case of moderators defending anyone in this thread, or in this section for that matter. 2. "Very poorly handled all around..." I have no idea what you're referring to here. 3. I don't understand why some of you get so emotionally involved in Jim and Paul's friendly banter. They don't. We don't always agree with each other's opinions, so what? If we did, we'd never learn anything new and this place would be BORING. 4. Hey, threads this long will tend to wander. Nothing wrong with that. It's not like we've ventured off into a discussion on the latest washer and dryer combos offered by Maytag. So to all: Chill out and enjoy the discussion or go read another one that suits your fancy. With that, let's drop our bickering and get back to the cars!
My second language is English...and I´m good at it...but sometimes I have a problem with understanding the "nuances" of the language. And spelling wrong. But...Let´s discuss without beeing enemies..and enjoy the freedom that in fact we can talk to each other...and get a response in just a few seconds. Staff.
Took SL71-32 for a long, long drive. Stopped at a local car show where I got "People's Choice". Life is good. Image Unavailable, Please Login
See many "near 'misses'" - where drivers become so distracted by what you're driving, bad things almost happen to them?

Great photos, Boudewijn ! Thanks for posting - particulary the ones with 'you know who' driving . That Norisring 1968 photo in post #341 is one of my personal favourites. Where was that last photo of '2 PV' taken ?
Here are some more pics of 0854. 2PV was at Goodwood. Martin Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Yes - I was wondering if it might have been taken at one of those, Jim. Note that the race # - (maybe ending in #5) doesn't appear to be the same as the #(1)31 in the later photos (from 1997 Goodwood F.o.S.).
Yes, it was at the Goodwood Festival of speed in 1997. I have a video with a short sequenze where you can see 0850 and 0854. At the same time was David Piper with his green P4 s/n 0900 and the 350CanAm 0844 there. The 712 CanAm s/n 1010 and the 612 P s/n 0866 where aso there. Even on video they have a faboulus sound. This is a great thread with some awesome pictures. Jim you have some beautiful cars and its good to see you actually drive them. I noticed these pictures on the virhistory.com website of #0844 driven by Gordon Tatum back in 1968. http://www.virhistory.com/vir/marques/ferr-gallery-01.htm Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
